I am thinking of getting my own AR-10 varient for shooting longrange.  The Armalites just seem to high for me, and the DPMS ones don't have forward assists in the heavy barreled models.

Can I get a complete lower assembly and does DPMS sell the upper (with forward assist) and the upper parts?

Basically I want a 20-22" bull or medium profile barrel, FF tube and forward assist.   They don't make a rifle like that yet.

Thanks for the help!

I build my own A3 uppers using DPMS parts.

Until a few days ago, midwayusa.com had A3 uppers w/CH for $180. All the other components are available from DPMS's website.

That's what I wanted too.

You can custom order one exactly how you want it from DPMS, but there is a 4-6 month wait.  That was too long for me.
So,

The closest that I could find locally was a LR-308C (Tac20).

It has a FF tube, 20" bull barrel, and forward assist.

I did have to take a hack saw to the front sight, but I am pleased with the results.

I plan on getting a better scope when I have the money,  but I needed something now for hog hunting.

Honestly building a DPMS or Fulton .308 is easier than building an AR15 varriant, there's not roll pins!  The take down pins go in easier, the front one has it's own hole and is simple and the rear goes down the same way the safety selector detent goes in.

I already assembled my Fulton lower with DPMS LPK and A2 Stock, with a standard RRA trigger... I have a TAC-20 Upper on order with the FF 4 railed hand guards and a single railed gas block from the factory.

DPMS sells all the parts, if you can't find it on thier website shoot them an Email, thier customer service on sales is pretty darn good, if they don't give you the answers you're looking for post in the in "DPMS - Industry" page and Jason will probly pop out to give you some guideance.

So do I have to pay an exorbitant price for them to build me a rifle, or just an upper?

What I want is an LR-AP4, but with an the SASS barrel and a A2 butstock (and a different FF quadrail).

You can do what you are interested in, but you may find that buying the rifle is cheaper.... or at least close enough in price to not justify building it.
