I just finished ordering everything to complete my build. To start, I bought a matched upper and lower made by a shop locally.

Here's the parts list:

Rainier arms select series 16" fluted stainless steel barrel

Diamondhead v-rs t 10.5" free float handguard

Fortis low profile standard gas block

Stag arms chrome bolt carrier assembly

Stag arms charging handle

Stag arms lower parts kit

Mako stock and tube

The only thing I have left to buy is a mid length stainless gas tube and some optics.

I have stock photos if you guys would like to see them but I will post more pictures as I receive parts and start the build

What do you guys think?

Looks good and welcome to ARFCOM.  What are you planning to use this for?  What are your plans for sights, and what are you planning to use on the end of the barrel (if it's not a bull barrel)?

Thank you! I just wanted to build one, I'll just be using it to have and to shoot. my other ar has a red dot on it so this one I'm going to go with some kind of scope. I have no idea what kind yet tho. The barrel I believe comes with a flash hider on it already.

You may want to check on this...

Here is the link to the barrel

In the picture at the bottom it shows the barrel with one, that's what throws me off.

It mentions the barrel extension. Would that be what I'm looking for?

Excuse my lack of knowledge here, I'm pretty new to this

I believe that's just a mock up.  You may want to call or email them, as I don't recall their barrels coming with a flash hider/brake/comp installed unless its a special order...

ETA:  Yes it will come with the barrel extension attached, but I'm pretty sure you just get 1/2-28 threads on the muzzle end...

Okay, I'll give them an email and find out for sure. Thank you for the heads up on that!

Just shot them an email on that, if all else fails, I'll just order one once the barrel comes in.

What is the difference between a flash hider/brake/comp, function wise??

Just an update:
I received most of my parts, the barrel does not have a flash hider on it.

I also went to put the pins in my receivers and they will not line up. I'm in contact with the manufacture, waiting on a response as to where we will go from here.

What do u mean receiver pins don't line up? I thought I read your upper and lower are a matched set?

It is supposed to be a matched set, apparently they didn't check it thought. You have to squeeze them together to get both pins to go in. They do not go all the way in tho, and get stuck. I talked to the manufacture and I'm going to send it to them to repair/replace.

Finally got my receivers back from the manufacture and started the assembly. I have the lower completely done and I'm going to take the upper to a gunsmith to torque the barrel down so I can complete the upper. Here are some pictures

Just FYI the barrel extension is what attaches to the upper receiver end and mounts into the receiver, creating the mating surface between the 2.  The other end is generally referred to a "muzzle device," which includes flash hiders, compensators, brakes, etc.

Yes, I did my research on the whole muzzle end thing, because I was clueless!

Thank you!! All that's left is to get the barrel torqued up and I have to figure out what to do about my free float handguard. I'm going to have to get it machined a bit because it doesn't fit all the way snug on the receiver
