This project was a first for me but in hiding in the background and reading the forums a lot, it wasn't too big a task. Like many, I don't have unlimited funds to work with so this was a "buy as you go" kinda thing done on a lower budget. I couldn't have done it without the immense resources on here and a ton of youtube videos, mainly because I didn't understand what I was buying. I would say to anyone wanting to do this, give it a shot...it really isn't bad.

First I bought a stripped lower...I decided to go with Surplus Ammo and Arms, mainly due to the price and the fact that they are made by the same company as Aero Precision and (at one time at least) Spikes Tactical. I kept reading "a forged lower is a forged lower, so long as it is in spec" so I was comfortable with the choice.

And even though it isn't for everyone, I wanted a little color so I filled the lower....

I went with a DPMS parts kit, again, it was a killer deal. I have larger hands and I didn't personally care for the stock grip so I found the Stark SE-1 grip, which is extremely comfortable in my hand and I like the integrated trigger guard. I know this grip isn't a favorite of some, but I love it. I found my upper on gunbroker and got a good price on it, it may not be stamped "Rock River", "Spikes", or "BCM" but its make by a mil spec manufacturer and shoots well....

then added a standard stock...

I picked up some magpul rail panel covers and added a Primary Arms M4 style sight and purchased a UTG Foregrip from a gentleman in the Equipment Exchange.....

That is how it sits now, as I still need to get a Primary Arms magnifier (unsure on 3x or 5x), some flip sights, a light, an ACS stock, and a sling. Thanks for looking!

Not bad. Take pride in the fact that you assembled it yourself.

IT is a very good first run with your funds...

Just try to keep it to just 1 build a year and you will be alright...

The bug may get you though..

Thanks guys, I'm happy with this rifle, it has a 1/7 twist chrome-moly barrel with an LAR free float handguard and YHM micro gas block, and I've got about $800 in it now. I am planning on building a more "budget free" rifle at the beginning of next year, I'm wanting a .50 Beowulf so I'll be ramping that build up a bit.  .

Haha, people can hate on the Stark all they want....I like it and it fits ME. What would be the purpose if we all had the same taste? IMO, this place would be pretty boring. Thanks everyone.
