I just mounted a scope on my AR 10 along w/a PRS stock, I wanted to make sure the charging handle cleared the cheek piece and chambered a round.
Now the charging handle is stuck along w/the chambered round. I don't want to "pogo" the gun by slamming the stock on the ground to clear the round. What are my options? Thanks. |

Here is what I did with my DPMS LR-308. Take the upper off the lower. Grasp the charging handle and hit the release with your left index finger. Keeping the release open and pressure to the rear use a rubber mallet to tap the right side of the charging handle . It will pop loose. I did this with the lower on, but I was the only one on the firing line and it was pointed down range.
You may find, as I did, that my / your chamber is a bit tight. I was using hand-loads that had been FL re-sized. I've since switched to a small base die and the problem is now gone. BHill in OR |

I had a out of spec firing pin get hung up and the only way to get the BCG to come back was to pull back on the charging handle while giving the butt of the rifle a little thud on a firm surface at the same time. The firing pin got stuck when dry fired and just pulling on the charging handle wouldn't cut it. Give it a thud.
