rapid firing method of a semi-auto--can be heard as full auto

put gun at waist level, and bump away (use the force of the recoil to bounce the gun's trigger off your finger)

It's a way of wasting ammo and making some noise. Done it with my AK, not AR. A lot fun though

they know

first off, i'm not sure if this is in the right forum.....but my guess is that they have seen the question too many times and suggest a search

www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=1&f=5&t=332283&page=2#4360732

and you might give em a little time; ot they might just be giving you a rough time.......

what ever, try it sometime--its fun, but serves no purpose than to waste ammo

I think it's beacause my AR has a stock trigger and my WASR has a G2 FCG.  Easier to bump when your trigger pull is 3.5 pounds and the think recoils pretty good.

If you can find the sweat spot, you can fire off 30 rounds just as fast as FA. However, it's not the best thing for long range shooting.

Here he is bumping from the shoulder faster than FA!  I saw one thread a few months ago where a guy was bumping so fast he was damaging the brass by firing before it was fully inside the chamber.

Good info here and two posts later.

well, after a year and half of AR ownership, i tried bumping. just to see if i could do it, and see what all the huh bub was all about.
first time i tryed,  only fired one shot, hmmm, i thought, ok, lets just pull the rifle forward while in recoil.

WELL!! it worked, bumped off rests of a mag, about 10 rounds.
Lets try again with full 20 round mag. worked full mag in 3 seconds or so..
I wish i had that 3 seconds and the 20 rounds back......

but it was a good feeling for that 3 seconds,
oh, that 20 rd mag was from almost an aimed fire position. meaning almost from sholder, little lower.
didn't hit crap except the backstop, sure made the dirt fly !!
