Wondering if anyone has first hand experience regarding the battery life of the Burris Fast Fire Mini-RedDot.  The Burris web site says 4 years but does that mean 4 years left on 24/7?  I like to leave all my Aimpoints on so I don't have to worry in a SHTF situation if it is going to be there for me.  I am putting one on top of my TA31f ACOG and recently installed one on my FN 5.7 (ccw gun).  The one on my 5.7 has been on for a month and a half so far and going strong.

Battery life on the MRDs depends on ambient light.  If you leave the cover on when not in use or store the handgun in the dark, you'll get maximum battery life.  If it's out in the light, life will drop a lot more, as the dot will be brighter more of the time.

Since the Burris has an on/off switch, you could just turn it off and get battery life limited by the internal battery leakage current, but that's another thing to deal with when you get your gun into action.

The Burris hasn't even been available for 4 years yet, has it?  Someone will know if they get shorter life, but nobody will be able to say about the full 4 years yet...
