Hello folks! I recently purchased the Burris 3.5 Fast-Fire for mounting on a Remington 7600 for a close in thick cover deer rifle. I absolutely love it....but. They do not claim to be waterproof and the sight appears to be kind of open where the dot projects out from. This is also in a recessed portion of the sight...a spot I'd imagine would be a collecting pool for water. The Docter red dot claims to be water proof. I'm sure either way I'll have to keep an eye on the sight to keep water off the dot, but my concern is water getting inside the Burris and killing it. I sent Burris an email and they said I'd be fine, just dry it at the end of the day....but I can look down in and see exposed wires in there and it appears open down into the electronics! It just didn't give me a lot of confidence for drizzly days. Anybody have insight into this? |
| The standard doctor is not water proof either. In fact all of the electronics are wide open. They do make a 500 dollar version that is H2O proof. However, I have completely submerged my standard doctor under water and it kept right on working. So if I were you I would not worry too much. |
500 dollar version??? I think more like 700-800! |
| ost....I went ahead and paid a little extra through Cabela's (had a $25 gift card though) in order to be able to send it back without issue. Most of the other places won't take them back if they have been mounted. I paid $209 for it....I really like it and feel it is superfast and perfect for a woods rifle for close range stillhunting and tracking in Maine. The water thing is the only issue I can see, and with the knowledge that somebody dunked theirs and it kept working, that may have convinced me to hang onto the Burris and give it a try.... Anybody else with any insight into this??? Thanks in advance! Dan |
| I have a fastfire on my AK, it's held it's zero so far after about 270 rounds, took me about 5 minutes to sight in, it's at the perfect height when mounted on my UTG rail. I'm very happy with the setup, I have no trouble at all hitting targets at 100 yards with it. |
