All right I won't spend the money for the TA01 yet but I saw this scope and it match my uses. Target, plinking and maybe some varmint hunting. As for a mount what do you guys recommend? It will be on a bushy flattop carbine. http://www.riflescopes.com/products/200168/burris_fullfield_ii_3-9x40.htm |

I just got one of these on Monday...I like it, but I haven't had a chance to shoot with it yet. The lit reticle is not bright enough for sunny days, although you can see it pretty well on an overcast day, like we've had around here for the last couple. The eye relief on this scope is LONG...it says 3.8 to 3.1, but I swear it feels like about 5...my cheek is WAY back on the buttstock with it mounted as far forward as I can get it on my flat top. I have a bday present on the way of a LaRue scope mount...this will be a perfect candidate for that, as the LaRue will put the scope more forward of where it's at now. This scope is less persnickity about eye relief than my other Fullfield II...it's long, but the "zone" is pretty big. Also, I don't know if this is anything to worry about, but checking the scope out in my basement, it's very sensitive to bright lights...under the same condidtions (bright overhead flourescent) that I check all my other scopes out, this one is hard to see through...I think it's because of the long eye relief...a lot of ambient light hits the rear lens. This may not be noticeable in the real world, hopefully I'll be able to check it out at the range this weekend....or I might go to the indoor range tonight and see what happens. Also, with no abjustable objective, I don't think it's quite as crisp as my Fullfield II 4.5x14...once again, it's been hazy and overcast around here, and it might be just do to the atmospheric conditions. This scope is very persnickity about eye relief...if you're a 1/4" to close or too far away, it causes problems, so in this regard the one your looking at is much more forgiving. All in all, the lit ballistic plex is pretty cool, and I like looking through this at 4x...sorta like a poor man's ACOG in that respect. I'll let you know a little more about how it performs when I get a chance to get it outdoors in some good wheather. Tough call though on whether on not you'd be better off with the 4.5x14....you give up the lit reticle, but you get more X for varmint work, and the AO, which I like personally. The two scopes are pretty close in price, iirc. |

I have the scope in question on my Remington 700 VLS in .308, and I like it very much. It is VERY bright. In full sunlight almost blindingly so... The eye relief to me is excellent, very forgiving. THe main beef I have with it is that the reticle (even though I really like the ballistic plex) is hard to see in low light. I also have concerns about parallax error at longer distances, since it doesn't have an adjustment. All in all I think it is WELL WORTH the $186 I paid for it. -AG |

Fenian, I know the first link goes to a LRS modal. I do not think Aggie_Gunner is talking about the LRS! The like I provided is to a Burris non-LRS! But if there were someone out there offering the LRS at that price I would match it as long as I can verify it. www.csgunworks.com [email protected] Here’s some testimonials about CS GunWorks for AR15 Board Mike at CS Gunworks is... |

Don't know if this is too late, but I took this scope out shooting Saturday, and I was quite disappointed. On a gorgeous and very rare 75 degree/low humidity August day here in VA, I was expecting to see a very clear field of view. On the lower magnification, every thing looked ok...but at 9x, there was a very noticable fish eye type of deal going...the center was fine, but from about 1/3 of the way in from the edge, it was very distorted, and when I moved my eye, the image curved in the outer portion of the scope. I had 2 other people look at it to make sure I wasn't having some sort of 60's flashback lol. While the lower powers looked ok, the image was still not as sharp as I expected for a $300 scope. What made matters worse is the fact that I took my .22-250 with the Weaver Grand Slam on it...so to go from that to this Burris was pretty disheartening. I have another Fullfield II in 4.5x14x40 that does not have any such issue...so I really don't know whether I just got a bad one, or the non adjustable objective Burris scopes arent' very good. Either way, I'm pretty pissed off at money I got in this scope, which could have gotten me another Grand Slam...and of course, someone else was at the range with their new Grand Slam in 1.5x5, which looked awesome and would be perfect for an AR lol...as if I needed MORE temptations. YMMV, and maybe someone else can tell me that there is something wrong with the scope...I guess I should call either Midway/Burris and see what's up. |

Fenian, Please keep us updated on the Burris scope. I am interested in getting the Burris Fullfield II with the ILL reticle, either the 200168 or the 200179, and would like to know if yours was just a bad one or not. Also on Midways customer service as well. Thanx |
