I have a complete Bushmaster carbine with its detachable carry handle.
Should I follow the Bushmaster manual and use 6/3 +2 clicks, zero, then back to 6/3? Or, should I follow the military manuals 6/3, zero, done? Thank you! |

Use the Revised Improved Battlesight Zero. Just make sure you go to the bottom of Molon's first post to get the settings you need for your carbine handle. Zero at 50 yards and your round will be no higher than 2.5 inches above your line of sight all the way to 200m. Also your range markings will actually match with the distances you'll shoot at.

No, fixed carry handle A2 rear sights, carbine and rifle are 8/3; detachable carry handle rear sights, rifle and carbine are 6/3.
http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/library/policy/army/fm/3-22-9/c02.htm#2_1 ETA: Just looked up the Bushmaster manual here and the zeroing instructions they have on page 19 appear to be generic instructions and tell you to move the rear sight to 6/3 +2 or the "Z" mark, which as Postal pointed out is for a RIFLE, not a carbine. Given that Bushmaster's DCH rear sights are lower than mil-spec DCH rear sights, BUT that they also use non-f FSBs so the height difference should be balanced out, I'd say just use the recommended 6/3 rear sight setting for zeroing a carbine. |
| I had the same concern regarding a Patrolman Carbine M4. Contacted Bushmaster and they recommended sighting in at 25m with rear sight set on "z". Then return to the 3/6 setting for a 300M zero. The front post they use is shorter than others and this compensates for the difference. |
