| Just bought one not to long ago. Anyone else have a Bushmaster and what do you think of it? |

I had a very good 1st outing with my rifle. Bought it basically new used (Less than 300 rounds; no wear on anything.) It's a good rifle. The fully loaded Pmag wanted to argue about loading the 1st bullet; BCG would drop only 90% and then you would either have to coax it in, or rack it to clear the first bullet and then you were GTG. No issues with running it at 19 rounds, and the factory 19rnd mag was GTG, as was the 10 rnd Ca mag.
I took the rifle apart and checked everything, because usually Pmags are stupid-proof good parts. What I found was the bolt was a little on the dry side for my taste. The piston assy was pretty dry, and the inner cylinder that the bolt rides in was a little dry. After cleaning carefully and oiling it up well, I tried with several Pmags to drop in a 1st bullet when fully loaded. Problem solved. It's accurate; the optic it came with is non magnified red dot; decent for 50yd stuff. At 150yds, the dot covered the bullseye and I was flying half blind because of no magnification. But it still hammered the target well. At 225yds, I could not see jack shit because the optic has a small window and no magnification, so I was all over the place. A solid 9" group!!!
I put a 6x Weaver on it, and pulled that 225yd group down to 3.5" and I am really really happy with it. 2nd range day was productive and it's a good shooter. It's going to be painful to shoot; my shoulder feels great, but my wallet has a hole in it.................. |
| I have the ORC .308 with a Zeiss Conquest 3 X 9 X 40 scope up top. The rifle shoots great groups and with Hornady 155gr TAP ammo it is a tack driver shooting under a inch at 100 yards. Mine has about 150 rounds through it and I've noticed no wear other than typical AR style weapon wear. I added a MAGPUL MOE hand guards and pistol grip as the stock hand guards are just too wobbly. All in all it's a great Michigan deer rifle as you can stretch it out for 300+ yard shots and being a carbine with a collapsible stock you can sit in a popup blind and still maneuver it. |
