| I purchased a BM A1 upper with a superlight barrel. I cant stand the rear sight. The aperatures appear to be the same size. I would like to install the A2 style rear sight. Is this possible? Who sells one? |
To answer your question, yes the A-1 sight apertures are the same diameter. The one marked 'L' is for ranges past 375 meters, and for zeroing @ 25 meters for a 250 meter zero ( U.S. Army 250 Meter Battlesight Zero For the M16 & M16A1 Rifle). I use the IBZ (Improved Battlesight Zero) on my 16" mid-length. Look at this thread, which discusses the same thing you are asking, A-2 peep swapped into A1? The A-2 rear sight apertures is NOT on the same plane, so your POI will be different. The XS same plane aperture rear sight has a 0.230" Large Aperture (not 0.200") and a 0.100" Small Aperture (not 0.070"). It might not be precise enough for your liking. YMMV. You could also ask the guys at DETC about the same plane aperture for their SLR-15 series of rifles on their Industry Forum page. |
And if you give them a chance they are not at all bad ! |
