i have a Bushmaster DCM rifle. i shot about 100rd of Blackhills thru it 2 years ago to zero my scope. i decided to shoot it again today using cheap PMC target ammo. first 50rd shot fine, then i started experiencing a jamming problem every 5 rounds.. the round would "cock" up just before entering the chamber, and the bolt would dent the casing real bad. usually i am able to reuse that round. but sometimes the bullet would be crooked in the casing and i would have to throw it away. the bolt assist didnt help in thsi situation. btw, i was using USGI 20rd mags. could my bolt assembly be lacking oil? will a dirty chamber cause this problem? i also have a bushmaster M4 postban carbine...i have been shooting it regularly for the past 6months...i have no problems with that rifle..and shot close to 1500rds so far. |

akjunkie, Read my response here: http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=66&t=148053 Note: I don't believe that your key is loose, but check it always. So you know, your action is short stroking. The bolt is not making it back behind the round, but instead, the bolt is grabbing the round at the middle of the case and forcing the round forward, then denting the case. If the bolt was making it all the way back, then the bolt would grab the back of the round and you would not have the denting. P.S. Keep the upper bearing parts wet with CLP. The upper is still new and the parts have not mated yet. Once the anodizing/park surfaces have polished themselves out, you can back off on the CLP in the upper. |

No worries!!!!! Chances are that the rifle is just gummed up with fouling, the upper is still tight, and the rifle is a little pissed at you for not shooting it for such a long time. After you spend some quality time with it (cleaning), it will be back to normal. [nuts] |
