Hi Folks,

I took my new Bushmaster to the range last weekend and had a problem with the mags that came with the rifle. Basically, the problem was "bolt over round" -- all the time, every time, except for the first round, of course.

Last night, I took the bottom plates off the mags, intending to disassemble and slick them up a little. Much to my surprise, they had metal spacers pop-riveted in the bottom of the mags (nominally, 10 rounders.)

As best I can figure out, these mags cannot be disassembled. Is that right? Are they any good? Are they worth keeping? I'm interested in hearing what you folks think. Thanks in advance for your help.

Merry Christmas!

When and where did you get your BM?  I bought my about 4 months ago and it came with the 30 rnder and it was not pinned or welded.

I've had the rifle for about a month now. I didn't mention that it's a CMP model. I wonder if that's the reason for the 10-rounders vs. 30s.

The BM 10 rounders are intended to be the P.C. "tamper proof" style (AWB compliant), as in you should not try to disassemble them.  If they need cleaned, just hose out with aerosol rem-oil in the feed lip end and turn upside down to drain and dry.

I have three that are great for purposes of sighting in guns off the bench since they don't stick far down out of the rifle, much better than the junk plastic DPMS 10 rounders.  I would call BM and see if they will send you another, all the ones I have are well used and have never failed.

They are worth keeping for bench shooting, if for no other reason.

Merry Christmas to you too!
