AR newbie here.
A local Cabela's has Bushmaster 30-round mags in stock for $30. Are they good mags? Is this a good price? If not what is a good price for the Bushmaster 30-round mag? Thanks, Barry |
| $30 is not a good price for those mags. Not a good price for any AR mag IMO. Bravo Company ,44mag and many others have equal or better mags at around $13-$14 (when in stock and I don't know if they are at the present time). Bushmaster does not make their own mags. Also, don't buy the USA or Triple K steel mags for any firearm from Cabelas. They are total pieces of shit. Try Bravo here..............44mag here |

Try Bravo here..............44mag here +2 They are quality mags, but about double in price.... buy some PMags listed in the EE for under $20 each, or get on a backorder. I also suggest .44mag, great to buy from. |

Thanks, Barry My Bushmaster 30 round mags seem to work just fine. I've haven't had any feed issues or anything else like that. $30 is WAY too much though. You should be able to find USGI mags for $12.50 to $15.00 brand new no problem. It hasn't been mentioned yet so try cproducts. I heard a rumor they made mags for Bushmaster but don't quote me on that. People seem to like them for the most part. The gold standard as far as AR15.com is concerned appears to be PMAG which are polymer mags made by Magpul. They generally go for about $15 to $20 under non-scalp conditions and when you can actually find them in stock online. I've haven't used them yet but most people swear by them so take that for what it's worth. |

Thanks, Barry You're paying $16 for a boutique floorplate on a $14 magazine. D&H NHMTG or C-Products at reasonable prices D&H or Brownells at Bravo Company Brownells mags are $12.50 ea if you order 25 |

I saw those same mags at the Hamburg Cabelas. When I saw the $30 price tag, I just had to see what made them worth the price. They were simply Bushmaster marked C-products mags. Not bad mags, but certainly not worth even half that price.
The backorders seem to be filled on USGI mags. 44mag, Brownells, Bravo.... all have them back in stock for reasonable prices. 44mag has NHMTG back in stock for $16. Many consider these among the best of the USGI mags. |

While back, it is made w/ D&H (formerly Labelle). Not sure why the transiton from a well know mil-contract comp to outside venor. Perhaps, it is to cut down on price.. Not sure.maybe C-prod can explains that..been hearing that now BM mags is giving user problems...I would stick w. original.. |

Don't buy magazines with a firearms maker's name on them.... Basically, they are a "part" for your rifle, rather than an "accessory", or "consumable". Get the MagPul PMag, the Lancer L5, the Cammenga Easy Mag, NHMTG mags, etc... They all cost less than that, and they are all better than that. |
