Hi. Got mixed up in the hysteria and bought a Bushmaster ORC.  Read this article in Guns & Ammo (September 2008)  for a Noveske N4. In it Patrick Sweeney sates "The weak link in many AR-15 rifle is the carrier key... many makers do not stake the key sufficiently".  I do not know a lot about ARs, but asked many friends and random gun folks and they say Bushmaster is a quality gun.

Is this something I need to worry about?

I plan to order a MI #20X Carbine length free float and Vltor carbine mod stock Clubfoot to jazz it up some.  This gun will be mainly used to plink and enjoy.

Thoughts please?

For casual use or even the home defense mission, it's not something I worry about too much.

Get yourself a spare bolt carrier or two.

P.S. I love my Bushmaster.
