You guys out there with the bushmaster ORC 308- how do you like them ? How many rounds thru yours and any issues?

loved mine before I traded it (regret) it would shoot 3/4 MOA with handloads. put a few 100 rounds through it and never had any issues with it. they ar overgassed from the factory but can be combated with a full length buffer tube, heavier buffer, and full length spring. or adjustable gas block.

ran a leupold mr/t 1.5-5 and I could bang on a 20" plate @ 800yds all day long. (168 a-max@2600ft/sec)

I've had one for about a year but sadly cannot comment on functionality. Great caliber, I like how it feels and have had positive experiences with my XM.
BUT, I have only shot it enough to zero the optics.
Thanks for the post. I'll follow it to learn.

Eta. Garred do you like the low magnification scope? You certainly shoot it well. I was thinking of a Burris m-tac 1x4.
Thanks guys.

I have Bushy .308 ORC.  I've changed the handguard to a MOE midlength and the receiver extension to mil spec, SSA-E trigger, Troy trigger guard, Troy ambi selector and slash heavy buffer.  It shoot very well.  I have a SWFA SS 1-6x24 on it.  It is my "lightweight" .308 AR hunting rifle.

there all i'll run on a carbine. I feel you lose very little to a rds other than nvg capability (which I don't own anyways) and gain ton's. granted i'd love that new 1.1-8 leaupold. even at 1.5x it's quite natural to shoot with both eye's open through a carbine course. and I like the SPR reticle the mr/t has so you don't even worry about touching a dial. I feel it's a great addition to any carbine from 0-600yds I'm sure 800yds would be dificult to pick up a natural colored target with the 5x power. a bright white steel plate is one thing but a animal or 2 legged predator would be a differnt story.

have no experience with the burris.

I was looking at one the other day but after reading a lot of reviews the overall results were not good.  What I read is the ORC is their bargain basement model and he quality suffers greatly with many people saying the one's they have bought over the last few years have broken internal parts over and over.  I passed on buying it despite it being tricked out with high end stock and forend and such and at a great discount.

Hard to tell if something is good or not based on reviews alone but I'm passing on the ORC.

I really like my Bushmaster MOE after working out some minor issues that had me scratching my head at first. About 1000 rounds through it so far, all surplus ball, mostly FNM with some AB Norma thrown in.
1st time at the range with it: 30% failure to fire due to weak hammer spring. A Geissele ALG Combat Trigger solved that problem. Sheared the lip off the extractor in the first range session also. No further issues with the extractor I replaced it with.
Recently changed out the stock BCG with a Knights Armament NiB BCG. First range session with 60 rounds, many failures to eject. Changed the extractor spring and added a insert and the next 60 rounds ran 100%. Took it out last weekend to zero a new rear sight and ran another flawless 140 rounds through it. I've also changed out the collapsible stock with a Magpul MOE Rifle Stock.

I replaced my complete BCG with the DPMS chrome one.  Then I sold the Parkerized one.

Running a DPMS REPR quad (bought used of the EE) over a Kies adjustable gas block, added a ACS stock, Tubb buffer spring, & a Damage industries $20 comp. Adding these parts turned the beast into a pussycat. PM me & I'll send pics - CeraKoted FDE - kind of a low budget M110C knockoff.

As far as reliability goes - I probably have around 400-500+ rounds through it - mostly Academy Sports Monarch Steel cased 147g. Have had no issues since a few failures to fully eject on the 1st range trip (used Remington for the 1st 100 rounds). A good breaking in & synthetic grease on the BCG rails has led to perfect reliability.

So no actual experience? Mine kicks ass - no broken parts in 500 rounds of shit ammo either......

Added a Slash heavy buffer and spring combo to my MOE. Took it out yesterday and ran 40 rounds through it for function testing, loading 1, 3 and 5 rounds at a time. Functioned fine and did seem to tame the recoil a bit.

Yes, get the slash buffer and spring.  Single best thing you can do for this gun.  Love mine
