Hey ya'll,
been a bunch of years since I've been here. Sold my old Colt a long time ago and kinda got out of the shooting sports for awhile. Kept a few pistols, and along the way I aquired a new Bushmaster rifle manufactured during the 94 Ban era. I've got a XM15 M4 look-a-like that's got the pinned and welded "Y" comp and fixed position collapseable stock (kind of an oxymoron eh?). I'd like to ditch the Y comp and the thing is horrendously loud, and the flash it makes lights up the night time sky like a homing beacon. It also has the fixed carrying handle with the A2 sights. I'd like to get a real collapsable stock, and perhaps even a A3/4 flat-top w/carry handle upper receiver. What kind of problems do you see with replacing these? I assume that I can now that there is no such thing as the AWB anymore. With the folding stock, do I need all new components, or can I re-use anything from the current setup, and is replacing the upper receiver all that difficult? I know I'd at least need a barrel wrench. Can I use my bolt carrier group with a new, replacement upper receiver? Thanks for the patience with the sorta newb questions. There just so much info and so many options it's hard to compile it all. It's good to be back.... Regards, JS |
