I ordered a d-tech upper, and in the meantime I bought a buddies Bushmaster V-Match upper (new and unfired) so I had something to shoot during the 5+ month wait.

So I'm just curious..........anyone have a Bushmaster V-Match or V-Match upper?  How accurate are they?  This is a bit ligher than I anticipate my D-tech upper being, so I'm wondering if it will be a good one to hang onto and make into the dedicated "coyote" upper.

Also, what loads are you shooting if you have a v-match?  I guess I'm trying to justify hanging onto this and am hoping that it will shoot WELL under 1 moa..........not sure yet as my BCG won't be here for a few weeks yet.

Your thoughts?

Each gun is different so you will have to try a few different brands of ammo to see which your gun likes. My V match is very accurate with match grade ammo. but mine wasnt a production gun. Bushmasters CEO at the time had their Master Gunsmith build mine for me.

Took one to a precision marksman class.  24" V Match, with stock trigger, not match trigger.  I used issued Federal match ammo, 68 grain I believe.  Best groups were 3/4 moa, most ran around 1 moa.  This was with one of the worst stock triggers I've ever shot, a good trigger might have eeked out another 1/4 moa.

My modified V Match (ADCO) holds very tight groups well under an inch with Black Hills 60gr V Max.  The blackened two shot groups are from a zero'ing session last year.  As far as accuracy goes - get a great trigger (SSA from Geissele) and decent glass if you need it.  But again - YMMV  ...........

I love Bushmaster barrels for the money

Just wanted to bump this to the top guys and see if there was anymore feedback.  So far I've put Federal 55 gr XM193, UMC 50 gr JHP's, plain old Winchester 55gr SP's, and some Black Hills 50gr VMax's.  Just about all of them are averaging 1-1.5".  I know I'm capable of more than this, the 10fp I sold to fund this gun I was able to consistently shoot 1/2" groups at 100 with, sometimes much smaller than that.  I've got a 4-12x40 VX-II on it, so the glass should be capable of better than this too.

I'm hoping the problem is that I need a heavier load, but I'm having a heck of a time finding 60 grain quality loads in stock anywhere.

What do you guys think?  Different load, or is that what this gun is capable of?  I gotta say I'm a bit dissappointed.  It's certainly capable of minute of bad guy/coyote, but not what I need for those 3-400 yard groundhogs that I was hoping to use it for this summer.

I'd say find better ammo.  Certainly try the 60gr V Max (my fav) or heavier . As for 3-400 yard shooting ––- The 50gr ammo will deviate past 200 yards with any cross wind between you and the target.  BTW - you still using the factory trigger?  If you are –– do yourself a favor and get the SSA.  Worth the money and will make you much more consistant and accurate.

my two cents.

I had the "Super V-Match".  It had a 20" fluted barrel and the two stage trigger.  I wish that I had it back...
