Which of these XM177 Flash Suppressors would give me the shortest length if I attached to a 16" barrel?
**I do not want to permanently attach it.**

The descriptoin of the Shorty Look Flash Suppressor says it has internal threads, but in the pic it looks like it's threads are right at the base. On the other hand, the Extended CAR 15 Flash Suppressor looks like it would fit further over the barrel from the pic.

I assume that the CAR 15 Original Flash Suppressor is for permanently attaching to an 11.5" barrel to bring it to a legal 16".

The CAR15 suppressor is actually a dup of the original XM177 suppressor that went on a 10" barrel, and won't give you legal length.  If it's the same length as an original, it won't even make you legal on an 11 1/2 incher.

As far as which is which on the other two, why don't you just call Bushie in the morning and ask? It's an 800 number, and they're very friendly folks

The CAR extended is 5.5" long and has the threads at the end and it's commonly used in a permanently attached situation to get an 11.5" barrel out to legal 16"... The original CAR is 4.5" long with the threading at the end also...

The 'shorty look' is a slip over with the threading right behind the FS cuts and extends beyond the barrel around 1.5"...  The standard fits barrels with a .610 profile, the heavy fits .720 profile barrels...

Here's some crappy pics of my 16" Bushmaster with the slip over FS... barrel was reprofiled to .610...

edited to add:  Ok... Hunt101 is down...

Ah yes, that's exactly what I want! The CAR15 look with the rifling all the way out to 16"

Thanks Darkstar.
