Maybe you checked already? Eagle Firearms and Aemtec ARms are the two most likely suspects

Bushmaster lowers seem awfully expensive. Do you need a Bushmaster for any reason or do you just want a good lower? If you just want a good lower there are plently of good ones for much less than Bushmaster. My Ameetec comes to mind.

Some of us just *really* like our snakes.  He knows *exactly* what he is looking for.

No I don't need a Bushy (I've been looking at the Ameetec & Mega lowers for myself)
BUT this build is for a buddy of mine just getting into AR's.

(I currently have Colt,BM,RRA,DPMS, & Armalite lowers)

He's ordered a BM superlight 16" A2 upper & wants the lower to match

I've been trying to talk him into a RRA lower but unfortunately he's
name brand concious.

At least I talked him out of a Colt & into a Bushmaster !!!

I've been told Ameetec lowers may be sourced from the same
foundry as BM lowers, so maybe I can persuade him .

And FALARAK  although I'm a big Bushy fan(I have 2 BM uppers that are great)
I've come to believe the lower is one of the most generic parts in an AR.

THANKS for the feedback fellas

Good luck man.  Ive had 3 on order for 30 days with a dealer from this board that usually NEVER has trouble getting stuff in.

I can understand wanting to keep the AR all one brand I guess, for re-sale maybe. I think the Ameetec lowers are really good, although I don't have the experience to be an expert. Bushmaster lowers just seem pretty expensive for just a snake logo...not to even mention Colt lowers which are rediculous.

Bushmaster is a know quality manufacturer.  That quality inspires brand loyalty.

I'm not doubting Bushmaster quality, I'm just saying that I could understand wanting to use a Bushmaster lower for a Bushmaster upper. I just don't really understand paying almost twice the amount for a Bushmaster lower over a lot of other good lowers just because it says Bushmaster on it. It really doesn't seem that the quality of the lower is of great importance as long as all the holes are correct and to spec.

If 5 different brands of lowers are all made to spec, what would be the benefit of one over the other besides the logo?

A company thats almost 100% guaranteed to be around in the next few years?

Brand name recognition? - that certainly helps at resale over a no-name brand.

And as I said, customer loyalty based on previous experience with a company.  If that doesnt mean anything to you, so be it, but why are you questioning that it DOES mean something to some of us?

Are you going to question why I continually buy one manufacturers car, when yours cost less and still gets you from point A to point B?

While almost all the lowers out there will do.... and are of good quality.... Bushmasters are the *closest* to "spec" today.  Possibly LMT as well, I havent seen them.... but they are priced about the same.

Every budget AR lower I have seen, has at least one major area where it fails to meet the level Bushmaster sets.  From high shelfs, lack of a *hard coat* anodizing, lack of relief in the rear takedown lug area, correctly forged, sear blocks, etc.

I will build on just about any lower out there... and for the majority of shooters, they will all be the same.  But given the choice, my first one will always be Bushmaster..... until I have a reason to change.

From my own limited personal experiance I agree with that  100%
(and their  uppers!!)

Well ok I guess I understand the Bushmaster lower issue. There really isn't any reason for anybody to get annoyed about it. Apparently there are some differences between BM and some lesser lowers, that was an easy enough explanation. Now take my Ameetec lower for instance, it doesn't have the high shelf, doesn't seem to need the relief in the take down area since my upper fits perfect and the LPK went in with no problems at all. In the case of the 2, BM and Ameetec I can only see a difference in the finish and the logo. It's probably a case of a difference that's more than meets the eye though. I wouldn't mine having a BM lower if just wasn't almost twice the price of so many other good lowers. If I was using a BM upper I would probably spend the extra money for the BM lower for several reasons. On a franken gun like mine it seems to make less sense.

So what was the difference in finish  ??

Just that the Ameetec is a deeper black with a hint of shine to it, not as flat looking as BM. Not that one finish is necessarily better than the other, just different.

I personally like RRA lowers with the match triggers.  You can pick those up about the same price as a Bushy with a standard trigger.  There are a lot of quality builders.  It's abot preference.
