I bought a Bushmaster AR-15 that was from a Ban state and has a fixed ‘collapsible looking’ stock. I was wondering if I need to get a different buffer tube as well as new stock to have an adjustable one. Here are some photos; I believe it is pinned with two pins to the buffer tube. I would love to be able to just press the pins out and slide a new stock on if possible. This is my first AR-15 and I am not sure how the buffer tubes on collapsible stocks look or work. Do they have holes for the positions, etc? http://www.ericgst.com/stuff/Stock1.JPG http://www.ericgst.com/stuff/Stock2.JPG http://www.ericgst.com/stuff/Stock3.JPG |

I think you’ll need to buy a new stock assembly. From the looks of your pictures: - Your receiver extension is void of adjustment holes. - Your stock adjustment lever is missing the internals. Now, it might be possible to reverse what Bushmaster did to make the stock compliant, but in the end the cost of the replacement parts might come close to that of a new stock. If I were you, I would skip the hassle. Sell the post-ban stock to someone who can use it, and put the proceeds towards a new collapsible stock. |
