| What is the approximate value of a Bushmaster Hbar upper. My LGS has one for what appears to be a good price. It does not have a Bolt or charging handle thought. It doesnt have a flash suppressor (not threaded for one) and the carrying handle isnt removable. Also, im sorry if i posted this in the wrong place. Thanks for any help. |

My first AR was an A2 ban compliant Bushmaster HBAR.
What I regret the most is deciding not to spend the additional $90 at the time for the A3 sitting right next to it. When the ban expired, the first thing I did was have it threaded for $75 and installed a Phantom FH. I own three other ARs now and have elected to keep that one in it's current configuration. There is nothing "wrong" with the upper you are looking at, save the lack of a FH and you can remedy that for less than $100. You can live with and learn your irons like everybody did before optics became so common and affordable. If you are willing to put money into the project you can cut and paste all sorts of mods to that upper but it would have to be a really good buy initially for that to be economical. That said, I'd offer $75 for it, accept $100 and pay no more than $150. What you are looking at is no doubt a take-off upper from a ban gun that somebody else just decided to slap a better stripped upper onto rather than perform mods. That's why they kept the BCG and CH, for the new upper. What are they asking for it? |

im not that worried about the lack of fh or the iron sights, I guess i was curious if the upper was worth the price he was asking. its a little higher than the $150 price you mentioned.
do other agree for the mostly complete upper is worth no more than 125-150? |

What barrel length are we talking here....16" or 20"?
In my opinion Bushmaster makes a pretty darn good barrel. An A2 (I'm assuming we're talking A2 here) upper in good condition is worth approx. $100, and a good condition HBAR worth at least $150. All this based on the assumption that this being Bushmaster, it's a chrome lined barrel, complete minus muzzle device/threads. If I could pick up a good low mileage upper like we're talking here for $200 ~ $250, whether it's 16" or 20", I'd be fairly happy. |

its a 16 inch barrel I bought a 16" Bushmaster HBAR off the EE (Equipment Exchange...the orange button at the top of the forum...), and installed it on a Bushmaster A2 upper, also from the EE, and it's an amazingly good shooter. I've ran a metric ton (mild exaggeration on my part... Personally, I can't find anything wrong with it. I like them. Again, if it's in good shape, and you're OK with the price, I'd go for it. |
