Both are good but as the Bushmaster will have a chrome bore, that's what I'd choose if the price is about the same.

The advantages of the 20" are greater velocity and longer sight radius. If you're going to scope the rifle, the latter advantage doesn't apply.

The 16" is handier and at least as accurate as the longer barrel.

You can get the longer sight radius of the rifle and the handiness of the carbine if you go with a "dissipator." Bushmaster has one with a M4 barrel profile that addresses the weight issues that dissipators traditionally suffer from.

Another option is a midlength. Longer sight radius than a carbine but not as long as a rifle. Still a 16" barrel length. You'll have to look beyond DPMS and Bushmaster though. You're probably looking at a Rock River Arms.

Or CMMG for the middy.  Just got one from Bigdawg and it's great.

Bushmaster finishes are not as good as DPMS.

Had my chance to look stripped lowers over alot tonight.

Bushmaster isn't worth the extra money for the snake. Sorry. My opin.

Also, doesn't Bushmaster have a 1 year warranty vs. DPMS lifetime warranty? I could be wrong.

I wasn't impressed with Stag's finish. Looked just like my RRA, which shows every little scratch. I've got a DPMS, an RRA, and two Double Star lowers and the DPMS has the best finish of all of them with the Double Star lowers a close second.

Bushmaster. I love my 20 inch A2.

For the same price? Bushmaster, without a doubt.

If we were talking $300.- less money for the DPMS and it was just for recreation, then the DPMS would get my vote.

Exactly.  Are you going to be staring at your rifle all day - showing it off to you poser friends.

Or are you going to be shooting it?

Looks are irrelevant unless you consider it jewellery or artwork.  If it's a tool then performance counts.

Bushy for the performance.

Complete rifle? maybe right.

But building a rifle out of parts.

I saw many Bushmaster, and DPMS that were built this year at a dealer tonight.

$125.00 for DPMS

and $180.00 for Bushmaster

No way did the less quality of metal finishing under the coating warrant a larger cost.

I don't care about the Cat on it. Or the talk of former rifles in many years past not having the best stake job on a bolt carrier. Companies improve, and decline in quality.

DPMS stripped lowers are nicer to almost every eye than Bushmaster stripped lowers CURRENTLY.

Integrity, ans suprise will allow many to accept. Some will stand behind brand even if it leads them off a cliff.

My opin.

edit for above post~ When buying similar quality lowers. Often finish is deciding factor on paying inflated prices~edit

that is the easiest choice, I would choose Bushy every single time without having to think about it, Bushmaster is that much better.

IMO Bushy is one of the top 3 manufactuers, the other 2 being Colt and LMT

Never had a problem w/my DPMS.  Fires everytime I pull the trigger and has a great fit and finnish, better than my RRA in that area.  But that being said, I still like the RRA more.

Also. Haven't heard it yet here.

Bushmaster individual parts are a bit more expensive each than DPMS.

I buy DPMS smaller pins, and things that most likely won't go bad.

When it comes to Bushmaster "quality/name" stuff.....for the price....I just go Stag, or RRA.

DPMS is the best bang for the buck...I have 2 DPMS's and no problems and in my opinion more accurate than a Bushy and would also buy a RRA before the Bushy anyway...

[#25]
If they are about the same price... get a Bush.
The only reason why I have a DPMS is that is was more than $100 cheaper than any Bushmasters I saw at the show.

But both are excellent manufacturers.

I thought my DPMS was innacurate until I recently realized that my rifle had been doing her job.. and I hadn't been until now.
