| Other than the protective metal shroud and the paint job, is there really much difference between an Eotech 511 and a Bushnell Holosight 510021? |
| All I've found via google is that Eotech actually makes both, and that they do share many of the same components. So I have to wonder...if NV-compatible isn't an issue, and I don't plan to scuba dive with it, what makes an Eotech branded one worth $100 more than one sold with the Bushnell label? |

It appears they both have the same basic components and technology, but the Eotech has more options and the protective hood. For range use, plinking, and other light use, there's no real difference that I know of. If you're going to use it in the field where your life will be depending on it and it's prone to getting knocked around, the extra cost is probably worth it. If you hunt with it locally, it won't be a big deal. If you take it on a $5000 Alaskan guide trip, you may want the sturdier version. It's a risk assessment vs value call, as I see it. |
