Has anyone improved the A1 or A2 butt plate yet?  Know where I can get an A1?

I was looking all over for an A2 buttplate to replace a CavArms stock buttplate. (The CavArms is okay; but I want a military-type with a metal door.) After looking around the vendors here, and googling and searching the internet, I found two places that sell buttplates only. One is Numrich e-gunparts ; but they don't say whether the hinged plate is metal or plastic. From what I've read a lot of companies are using plastic doors. The only other place I found was DPMS Panther Arms. They don't sell the whole buttplate as a unit; but they sell all of the parts to make one. I ordered all the parts a couple of days ago. I'm still waiting on it, so I can't tell you about it yet; but it definitely has a metal door. Total of all the parts was around $23 (including screws).

The only other thing I could figure out was to buy a buttstock from a company and take the buttplate off of it. The only issue there is that you won't know if the door is plastic or metal until you get it; and you have an extra buttstock laying around. Seemed like a waste of money to me.

So, I don't know if that helps or not; but maybe it will get you started.

I bought some of the new surplus A1 but plates that are out. The ones I got were smaller on the sides than the old A1 plates and did not fit the old stocks I have that well.

I'm not looking for anything in particular really. I just wanted to get a few Cavalry Arms C1 stocks and couldn't find plates, made me wonder if there was anything I hadn't seen.  I guess there isn't.  Hadn't thought about DPMS, looks like they got what I need.  Thanks for the suggestion .

They sell an all metal version.

Branspop, thanks for the info! I checked Midway and didn't see that one anywhere. It looks like a buttplate made up from all the parts I ordered separately from DPMS. If I ever need another one I know where to get it.

Thanks again!

So, that will fit an A1 stock?  More to the point a CavArms A1 style stock?

eta: or are they (a1/a2) the same dimensions?

I don't know about the A1 and A2 being the same dimensions; BUT I do know that the DPMS buttplate fits on a CavArms MkII lower. I got mine today and it went right on. Great fit. And it's great quality, just what I remember from my Marine Corps days: a hard plastic buttplate with raised dimples that help keep the buttplate from sliding around when you have it shouldered, and the hinge, hinge pin, trap door (and all parts of the trap door) are metal. This buttplate should last many lifetimes. It's great quality.

All the same.

ETA the little stubby "entry" stocks like RRA sells also fit any buttpad.

Thank you!!  The rubber/plastic assembly that came on the stock really blows.
