Finally got around to finish up the 80% paperweight and the guy at a local machine shop refused to rent me CNC equipment to mill out the lower because it was engraved AUTO had faux sear pin on both sides.  We got into a heated argument and of course, I caved in and removed the faux sear pin and AUTO selector position just so I can it done.  Afterwards, I sent the raw lower to an anodizer along with the black upper, which was stripped and reanodized gray to match the lower.  Here's the progress so far.  I'll post more pics and specs of build when she's all finished.

The weather was really nice outside, so I took a couple of snap shots of the finished build.  Rifle started out as a Clinton ban era Bushmeister A2 20" HBAR barrel.  I yanked the upper & sold it here on EE after I found a Bushy C7 upper and a Bushy 5.56 NATO 1/7 twist barrel.  BCG, stock & lower parts are 100% Bushy.  I wanted the barrel to be period correct by using peel washer for the A2 comp.  Man it was a pain to get the comp to time correctly .  BTW, that's not a regular mag release--it's a Kalifornia compliant bullet button and the Thermelts have been blocked to 10-round capacity

Given the severe penalties, I can appreciate the guy's paranoia. He would have a hard time explaining it to the BATF if you subsequently modified it. My local gun smith would not have done it either. But it is a nice looking rifle.
