Does anyone have any knowledge on the stock?
http://www.commandarms.com/product.asp?pID=278 Haven't seen it a lot here yet... |

CAA does not have the best reputation on this site. I would go with Magpul over CAA any day because of quality. Here is one that would be close to the CAA stock. http://www.magpul.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=70_149_150&products_id=363 You could also get a MOE or CTR if you don't need/want the battery storage space (you can always fit a few batteries in a MIAD grip and in your VFG) MOE http://www.magpul.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=70_124_129 CTR http://www.magpul.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=70_73_110 |

To the OP, I actually had the EXACT same stock on my first build. I liked the storage function and I also liked the accessories that you can add on to the stock. Within one month of owning it I decided it was not the stock I wanted. It had A LOT of wiggle in the lateral movement. It locked well but the back and forth (rotation-wise) was way too much. I went to see Bookhound (mark) and got to feel first hand how nice the CTR is.... walked out $90 lighter. Actually sold the CAA 6pos the next week on the EE Im telling you from first hand experience.... Pay more now and be happy. There is a real reason why magpul and vltor have the rep they do. a.f |
| I use a CAA stock on one of my AR's. It has a very snug fit and feels a bit more comfortable since the buttpad is rubberized. I've abused the hell out of it and it's still G@G. Eventually I expect the battery storage compartment door to get ripped off, but it hasn't happened yet. |

yeah the MSRP on it is definitely high. I got mine with the tube for well under 100.
I like my CAA. Yeah it wiggles a bit when I am holding the rifle in front of me, but not when its in my shoulder. And you certainly can't tell when shooting it. I like to be able to move the stock position quickly because I wear different amounts of armor. The CTR requires 3 movements to do this: unlock, move, relock. The CAA requires only one. The storage is nice and it's built better than many people around here think it is. No disrespect to Magpul, you will certainly like their product, but there is nothing wrong with the CAA. |
| i got one for like 60$ and used it in iraq for about 6 months, it was a great stock, held my spare batteries and the swivle attachemnts where nice, i also used the mag holder that they make so i could have a mag on my weapon it worked very well. ive switched to a EMOD stock but i wouldnt mine using this again. |

wow, a soldier that used a CAA product in the field and didnt die due to its "terrible" construction. I say this due to the crazy crap on Ar15.com about CAA. Caa Makes great parts so does Magpul and other companies. Just because CAA isnt made by Magpul does not mean it is junk.
Thank you for youre service. Derek |

No disrespect to Magpul, you will certainly like their product, but there is nothing wrong with the CAA. You don't have to unlock the CTR/ACS before you move it. When you depress the main lever to move it the lock automatically comes undone so it would only be 2 steps, move & relock. Realistically though, how often are you going to be changing pull lengths. It's usually set up beforehand with the gear you're going to wear so comparing the amount of steps is a moot argument. Finally you could also use the CTR/ACS without locking it just like a standard collapsable stock so the amount of movements becomes the same. OP, take everyone's opinion for what they're worth, just opinions. I've never used and CAA products as I just finished my first AR build, but from the ones I've handled in the few BX/PX stores they do look kinda cheap. But that's just the "look". Plus the look is kinda 1980's style robitc/futuristic. I've never heard of any of the grunts that bought their stuff to look tacticool say aything bad about the actual quality. Me, I bought a Magpul ACS as an alternative to the LMT SOPMOD Crane stock. Extra storage compartment and a lock with proven quality at half the price is a win in my book. |

I have a magpul stock, a CAA stock, and regular M4 collapsibles on four other rifles. Yes, my CTR is excellent, but the CAA is right up there with it. Flame away. |

Well, first off I have no Magpul stocks. Otherwise, you're just wrong––I was making a joke. |
