| I've been looking forward to owning a firearm for a long time, and now that i can, the AR15 seems like my best choice. But living in California, we cannot buy them as far as I know. So i was looking into making one. What are the steps i would have to take to legally make and own one? I read the NFA weapons FAQ here and i explored the BATF site, but the only info i could find was the Form 1, 5320.1. Do I fill that out, and get approval before buying pieces or am i getting ahead of myself |

the 5320 series of forms is for NFA. eg Machine Guns, short barrel rifles/shotgums, destructive devices etc... You really should try this in the hometown forum. You'll be more likely to find people who live in the PRC who can help you through all the legal stuff. |
| I'm in CA too, unfortunately. If you cannot buy it in California, you cannot build it either. Building one is not a workaround or loophole as "possession" of it is the primary obstacle for most of the fun stuff in California. However you might get it, an unregistered AW is still an unregistered AW. |
| Please read the staying legal in CA tacked thread in AR Discussion. Also check out calguns.net. This site is loaded with CA AR info. There's alot of reading you need to do to stay legal. |
