These have been out for a while. Who has tried them? I think they would be great for plinking, but not so sure about a real fight. I think the bolt hold open is the best indicator.

I have several of the non-countdown mags, and I think they're as good as any polymer mag going, with the exception of Lancer, which is in my opinion the best of the polymers. Personally, I don't need a countdown feature nor a window on my mags, like you said, the bolt hold open works just fine. I don't think I'll be looking into the window of my mag during any serious gun handling encounters anyway, so what's the use? By the way, the IDF has officially adopted the CAA countdown mags as standard issue, so I'd bet they're as reliable as anything else out there. |

A round counting feature was actually one of the things being considered for the M4 trials, so for whatever it's worth the military was at least considering it. But then again what do they know about anything.... |

But then again what do they know about anything.... Yeah, but I still question it's usefulness, and we'll see if they eventually implement it. While I don't see it as a negative, I put a very low priority on it. In a non critical situation there are various ways to determine round count, including simply topping off all your mags. In a critical situation I doubt the window or other round count device will be used much, if at all. |

I once thought remote car starters were stupid, frivilous, superflous things until I bought a car with one installed, now I would never go without one |
