Do to the large volume of people giving excellent feed back about compass lake engineering, I ordered one of their barrels last Friday. I had like ten people tell me their barrels are done in house with Douglas blanks, by a barrel legend..."Frank" who does some of the best barrels out there. I was further impressed, as their web-site had page after page backing this up.

Why then did I just get off the phone with them, to check the status of my order and was told it was "SENT OUT" to be contoured? and should be sent (yet another place!?!) to have the chamber cut next week? Did I buy something under false pretenses? And will be receiving a run of the mill barrel I could have got anywhere with out waiting? Some one PLEASE tell me I'm mistaken.

Unless you are very very lucky, it's normaly a six months or more wait for a barrel ordered directly from CLE.

If they happened to have the exact barrel you ordered in stock, "sent out" could very well mean that it's on a UPS truck headed to you.

"Sent out for profiling" could mean Teresa took the order over the phone and sent it to the shop. Their shop, as opposed to their house.

You ordered the barrel Friday and called already to check the status of your order? A little impatient are we? Relax, they are a small outfit that specializes in precision barrel making. They have a lot of customers, many of them have deep pockets (including Uncle Sam) and very large orders that were placed ahead of your's. This is a Mom and Pop outfit that uses high tech CNC machines, hires fellow experienced shooters to run them and makes a great product.

You did not make a mistake. In fact you are about to discover what a truly great barrel is. I normally don't get concerned until six months have passed. Unless they gave you a different time frame, that's what it normally takes when get in line with the rest of us.

You can buy their product immediately under the White Oak Armament label, but it won't be a Douglas blank. You can buy it under the Ranier Arms label, I think they are using Shilen blanks. Denny's Guns aka Global Tactical Supply also sells their barrels.

I was told about four weeks. I called because I was afraid my order had got messed up or something. I was thinking that like most places, they charge you as soon as you order. Or like some do on a special order, they charge you up front before they even start to process the order. Just kinda panicked when I didn't see a charge to my account yet.

And I didn't really even think about what "sent out" could mean till I hung the phone up. And then stressed again thinking it could mean everything I was told about CLE barrels was out the window. I didn't realize that they are THAT small of an operation. But thank you for setting me strait on this, I feel a lot better.

Don't feel too awful bad Gunny, sorry to say but I did the same thing with the charge to my account thing. I didn't see the charge on my visa after about three weeks, and I got a little worried too. I called and Teresa was very kind and helpful. She explained that they don't charge your payment method until the day your barrel ships out. They defiantly have a repeat customer in me

Just take a deep breath and remember you have a kick ass barrel on the way. A barrel that some aren't lucky enough to get, and would most likely sell out their own grandma to get one

I'd be out sending rounds down range through mine, ice storm or not if I had all of my parts. Dang nabit! My #41 FSB is stuck at some post office in Rhode Island, due to this God forsaken frozen crap.

Wow, relax man. You are going to have a heart attack if this kind of stuff bothers you that much.

Sorry it's just, I missed my chance to order from them early last year. And I've been waiting for them to get more Douglas blanks since November. I was afraid something happened to my order, and I was going to get bumped to the back of the line. And my crossed wires when I heard the words "sent out" being used, I was starting the think I was going to get bit in the ass by buyers remorse again. But everyone has put that worry to rest. Thanks all for the moral support.
