| I was considering on purchasing a complete A3 upper from CMMG. How is the quality of the uppers sold from CMMG? Anyone know where the barrels are made? |
|
I bought CMMG's 20" Government Rifle and was very disappointed. Loaded it up with premium Federal...but every time I pulled the trigger it just made this farting noise...weird. Just kidding. Happy with CMMG so far...its still pretty young though. I think CMMG may be one of the only companies I havent read anything negative about here on ARFCOM. I'd say they're a safe bet. |

For years I've been a sideline kind of guy when it comes to CMMG. Only in that I have seen them around for years now, but not done much business with them. I'll tell you what I've seen sitting on the sidelines though. In the last 3 or 4 years, they have gone from being a pretty good company that primarily resold other companies product, to making and marketing a bunch of their own. Whats so nice about their own product is that they seem to have taken an interest in the differences and features that set some of the more expensive brands apart, and put these same features in a more affordable product. Things like barrel steel, finish, feedramps, twist rates etc, that were normally only available in more expensive brands are now available through CMMG at a very fair price. Its because of these things that I now have gotten off the sidelines and purchase their uppers for sale where I work. Im glad to offer them to our customers as excellent quality products. The last one I sold was their 14.7" M4 upper with the perm attached A2. The customer mounted it to an existing Bushmaster lower and is so pleased with the way it is shooting with iron sights, he is afraid to change anything. In an industry where "affordable" often coincides with shortcuts and poor quality, CMMG seems to stand as an excellent exception to that. Great stuff, great prices. Good for them! Heck, thats good for all of us! |

That hurt. I think my BRD is in remission thank God. It is my dicipline keeping me from doing it, not the $. I have had 2 for nearly a year that have yet to be shot. And yes, that is EXACTLY what I want, with an EOTech though. ETA: DK, what does that weigh without the optic? I want to compare it to a 16" carbine with a super light DPMS barrel. To me the 14.5" light weight barrel and mid-length design is the perfect combo for an all around AR (inside 100 yards).
|
I'm honestly not sure - sorry. But it is really nicely balanced, if that helps. If you put it down on the magwell, it doesn't tip forward. |
|
I have a 16" HBAR carbine and a 16" light weight carbine. Both rigged alike. I too can fully appreciate the weight difference between these two. The 14.5" middy from CMMG is simply the cat's ass.

I'm getting a CMMG within the next month. I'm still hammering out the details (this is my first AR) and I changed my mind from a midlength to a 14.5/perm phantom carbine for interchangeableness :D with my issue weapon. What's the difference between the standard m4 barrel and the socom? which one is heavier? |
Damn. I MUST HAVE ONE.
|
That is awesome, the A1 is a beauty; and is that you on that youtube video? |
+1 Wondering the same thing. Is it just that it is longer so the standard A2 gets you to 16"? |

. I love mine so much I sold my other rifles (I'm holding on to my 6920) to my partners at work. IIRC they machine their own barrels from blanks & they send out for CL'ing. You may want to inquire of them in the industry section for confirmation on that.
