How does CMMG rank among AR manufacturers? I am interested in them because they seem to have the most options available for me to buy an AR customized the way I want (14.7" barrel with pinned FH, choice of front sight/gas blocks, polymer hand guard, 2-stage trigger, etc.), but I don't know about their quality. |
| i bought the CMMG 14.5 middy upper back then, and it's been a very reliable, accurate upper. i honestly don't know where all the hate came from. i do know that many posted here about HORRIBLE customer service. i never saw that, they said 6 weeks on my upper and the upper arrived in 6 weeks on the dot. so far so good for, their bargin bin rifles have been a huge success and have very good reputation. i still would use their products if i needed something they had, YMMV |
| I purchased one of their recon profile carbine barrels back in 2007. I have never had issues with it. Their customer service was great. I did have problems with a barrel I purchased around the 11/08 AR buying frenzy (14.5" lightweight middy). I was never able to get hold of them after that so I gave up on them. I am inclined to think their quality control and customer service suffered during that time because demand exceeded their production capacity. My guess is that they are back to how they were and turning out good products. I would rate them around the same as Rock River or Bushmaster in terms of quality. Their stuff certainly has a good price point. |

In my limited experience with CMMG I have nothing but goo to say about them...they did have some issues during the craze a couple years back but so did more than a few reputable manufacturers.
However if my budget is at least $800 then I would go with a Spikes rifle instead. More due to the fact that I know exactly what to expect from them and customer service is second to none...IMO |

At one point you could pick your own garbage can rifle for something like 550$. I would not hesitate to buy another if I needed one. |

Absolutely fantastic products. Their website is extremely easy to use and offers amazing ways to customize your build. Their customer service is purely exceptional. I just recently ordered my upper from them and it only took a week for them to build it to my specs.
I highly recommend! |
