Thinking of getting one, unsure of just how well they function.
What's the accuracy? Thanks. |

CMMG makes the most reliable and feature full conversion out there, if you get the India or Evolution.
The ones you find at CDNN and CTD are old, discontinued kits and do not have the features of the new ones such as live round extraction, cotter pin holding the firing pin, push pin holding the extractor, forward assist, and machined for optimal function of the BHOA Dave N |
| I like my CMMG kit alot. Picked it up last deployment for 180 i want to say from brownells. It came with 3 of the 25round blackdog mags. When i first got it i lubed it and took it out to my in-laws backyard. I was dissapointed at first. every other round was a FTE. I would have to pull the magazine out and rack the charging handle then re-insert the magazine and rechamber. It was frustrating. I was using winchester bulk ammo. I read online a little bit and watched some youtube videos and polished the kit and ran about 4-5 magazines of high velocity magazines through it and i havent had a problem since. Not even with bulk ammo from walmart. At the same time i wont be taking this kit out squirrel hunting but for training purposes it works very nicely. |

Thinking of getting one, unsure of just how well they function. What's the accuracy? Thanks. Everyone who owns an AR NEEDS a conversion unit... or two... I've got 4 CMMG's and and I shoot the ever lovin' hell out of them, easily 2k rounds a month of Federal Bulk Pack. Mine run flawlessly, I did polish/smooth the rails and feedramps with 2000 grit wet/dry and CLP and used an electric drill and a .22 bronze brush to spin/buzz the chambers, then polished the chambers using the drill with Mother's. I normally use the CMMG's in 1/9 twist barrels and find the accuracy more than acceptable, not little ragged holes at 50 yards but surprisingly accurate and more than adequate for training. I also use the CMMG bolt hold open adapter and upgraded CMMG BHO magazines. Buy one and enjoy the savings and extra range time... |

are you guys having any issues with leading of the gas system when using the 22 long rifle rounds? I just bought a full 22 lr upper for about $200 more then the conversion uint. Leading only happens if you don't take proper care of the rifle. The main difference with the conversion kit and a dedicated upper will be accuracy. My conversions in a 1/9 barrel and bulk pack shoot about 2.5" at 50 yards. My dedicated upper will shoot 1" at 50 yards and less with match ammo. Plus, no worries about the gas system or changing sight settings. Dave N |
