| If I buy a 14.5" CMMG barrel witha permanently attached flash hider will I be able to install my Daniel Defense Lite handguard over it if I use one of their micro gas blocks? Will I be able to get the handguard over the flash hider? I want a lightweight CMMG barrel but they don't seem to make one that's 16" and this seems like the only option but it does me no good if I can't install my handguard. |

ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=2&f=145&t=153885 the exact barrel you are looking for is on the way from CMMG i just had CMMG put together my entire upper rather than worry about getting my LaRue 9.0 on it, you can buy the handguard from them or they will install your handguard for $30. |

i see your concern if i were worried about being able to dissasemble/reassemble, i would not choose a barrel with a permanently attached muzzle device, if you wait the 3 weeks or so for the 16" lightweight it will be a non-issue. i have had CMMG take down my 14.5 mid (wears a larue 9.0) and replace a A3 upper with a VLTOR VIS, they didn't charge me a cent. they also dissasembled my SPR upper to check for muzzle crown damage (that i thought i caused), and they didn't charge me for that either. it helps that i live pretty close to them, or at least much closer than Kalifornia |

The muzzle device has to be attached after the upper is assembled. It's not possible to install the gas block past the muzzle device. Likewise, it's not possible to install the barrel nut past the gas block if the gas block were captured on the barrel by the permanent muzzle device. The order-of-assembly is very specific on a setup like this: Begin with stripped down barrel and complete receiver. Install barrel nut on barrel. Place bolt-up-plate on receiver. Install barrel and barrel nut on receiver. Slide on lite rail, but do not bolt it up yet. Slide gas block with gas tube under the lite rail. Tighten down gas block while sliding the lite rail forward to first available hole to access gas block setscrew with allen wrench. Attach lite rail to bolt-up-plate, align and final tighten. Install and permanent attach muzzle device. You really can't vary from that order much and expect it to actually go together right. I'm in southern CA if you need something like this put together and permanent attached. I even have all the proper tools for alignment and installation of Lite Rails. |
