Some of you may have read that I was having problems with the CMMG 'classic' stainless conversion...good strike on round, but no ignition and round stuck in barrel. Del Ton heavy barrel chambered in 556, JP speed trigger kit with 2.5# yellow spring. CMMG suggested changing to JP's red (~4.5 lb?) hammer spring-tried that and no joy-4 rounds would fire, then blip-nothing. We switched out to 1235 fps CCI ammo, and problem solved. I had never seen Federal bulk fail, but it did in this case. Just an ammo change cured the problem, and I was almost able to fire the 22 rounds at close to full auto speed at the range with only one casing getting caught in the bolt during ejection towards the end of a rapid 200 round shooting spree.

Still scratching my head as to why the increased velocity of the trigger didn't properly and consistently fire the other ammo brands (Fed bulk, Rem gold) other than maybe the mass of the hammer is just too light for those brands which possibly have a weak primer compared to CCI.

Hopefully this might help someone else who encounters a similar problem some day.

I don't have the answer other than the lower mass hammer. But lately, I don't recommend Federal anything. I don't know where the range ammo and bulk is being manufactured, but it's crap across the board.
