Just a question about CMMG 308 lowers.  I've run into some that are flat-sided, and others (Like mine) that have a ledge where it meets the upper receiver.  Does anyone have a good idea of what this is all about?  It's going to mate to a Aero Precision M5E1 6.5 Creedmoor upper as of Tuesday.  Just kind of unique design feature that I hadn't seen on other lowers. This is the style I picked up (This isn't mine, just a generic pic I found on Yahoo).

mine is flat sided and matches perfectly with the side of the CMMG upper. I've never seen one like that, when was it made/bought? I assume it is an older model.

Bought it last Monday from the gun shop. No idea how to figure out manufacture date, but SN runs D-002xx.

That's strange, they must have switched vendors at some point. I can't imagine they are selling two versions concurrently.
