This is an update from this thread.

Last Thread

I spoke with John on the phone today.  I must say that he was very nice, polite and professional. Ok ,here's the scoop. Remember the BC group they sent me that i thought i paid for? (pics below)

Well i actually didn't pay for it after all. I forget to take in account the $80 and change for my rear sight. The amount they charged me was correct for what i had ordered. According to John, the person who assembled and test fired my upper; left a bolt carrier group inside the rifle, along with the charging handle i did pay for. This was supposed to be one of many BC's in a bucket that  they use for assembly purposes only.(according to John) He further went on to say that the person who assembled my upper misread the instructions from the website because it was unusual for someone to order an upper with only  a charging handle. In other words, he said that many people order uppers from them without an charging handle and BC group. The explanation he gave me was confusing and a little contradictory(think about it) nevertheless this is what he told me.

So what actually happened as far as mistakes go on CMMG's part are....

1) CMMG sending me the above BC group, that i didn't pay for(as i originally thought), by accident.
2) The triangle handguard cover instead of the round. In the scheme of things this is a minor, understandable mistake.
3) The upper with the misaligned feed ramps. (pictured below)

The replacement upper is on its way and when i receive it, i will post a full report.(with pictures)

Stuff happens.  No doubt they're taking care of it.  That's the kind of company they are.  I have and will continue to buy many items from them. They have always delivered a superb product and excellent customer service.  They will take care of you.  Enjoy and happy shooting.

i read the other post but wasn't even close to my experiences with cmmg. it is very odd that someone would order a c-handle but not a bcg. oh well.

the 2 cmmg's i have met needs that aren't offered by any other vendor. their accuracy, reliability, fit & finish are as good as all the other premium brands. the sbr was the star this weekend at a leo range session attended by usmc armorers and mp's getting ready to deploy to the box. many, many ebr's onhand. a soon-to-be unretired gunny bested the group after shooting a 20 round mag to zero the cmmg. this guy is leo/swat and has his own tricked out colt. the damn ccmg didn't make it home with me but i'm proud that a true pro wanted it that much.

neither of my cmmg's have cut receivers - i supplied the receivers to cmmg who installed their m4 cut barrel assemblies. i have not had a lick of trouble.

cmmg should be proud of their product and i will be making 2 more orders by special request.

If my replacement upper, is good, I would have no problem ordering from them again.

request.

I don't think this is so odd. I needed a charging handle and have a Denny's Super Duty BC group. I also ordered a Picatinny Rail.

A picture is worth 1.000 words.

A cut and paste from an M4 thread.

There are two types of feedramps RIFLE and M4 (or Extended as some manufacturers call them)

M4 feedramps are STEEPER than RIFLE feedramps, and go down DEEPER into the barrel extension.

Here is a great picture i found (credit to steve@adco from another forum) which shows the two side by side

M4 CUTS are in an UPPER RECEIVER. These small notches line up to the M4 FEEDRAMPS and continue them into the RECEIVER.

Some companies will label a flattop upper WITH M4 CUTS as an A4 upper, flattop upper WITHOUT cuts as an A3.

AN UNCUT UPPER WILL WORK WITH EITHER TYPE OF FEEDRAMPS (RIFLE or M4)
AN M4 CUT UPPER WILL WORK WITH ONLY M4 FEEDRAMPS, since the cuts in the upper will not match up to the rifle feedramps and create a shelf that could jam a round.

Sound familiar?

Yes, a picture is worth more than a thousand words. Those words are " I can't take a picture!"

I'll be the first to admit that it isn't the sharpest pic. I couldn't get my camera to take a sharper pic aimed down the receiver. However you can still plainly see the dicked up rifle barrel extension ramps  butted up against an M4 Feedramp cut receiver.
I thank the knowledgeable people on this site who provide  great info. This is the main reason why i signed up as a Team Member. It's the least i can do.

Why is a new thread necessary instead of an update to your other thread?

Two threads bashing CMMG better than one?

Btw - until you post some better pics, I seriously cannot tell if that is a rifle extension or an M4 extension.    When you are trashing someone's reputation, I think it's important to have your side of the story be really clear.

CMMG is fixing the issue with the ramps right?  And you'll get your round handguard retainer? Well...did they ask for their bolt carrier back??? Sounds like your gonna come out ahead in the end.........don't worry be happy
CMMG will make it right, like they always have. That is why they have such a good reputation here, there, and everywhere I've heard them mentioned.

If stating the facts is bashing then i'm guilty of that. I did mention John being nice and i did admit to my mistake in believing I was charged for the BC they sent me. The rest is what it is. I'm just keeping it real.

BTW, the reason for the new thread is to keep everything current.

If i could take another pic i would. It's kind of hard to do since i sent the upper back. Trust me, those are rifle feedramps with an m4 cut receiver.  You can clearly see that even with the fuzzy pic i posted; that's if you want to see it. Maybe i can try to sharpen the pic some with a photo program, although it really isn't necessary.

I don't blame you. Just look how some are attacking me. However, I wouldn't encourage you to keep it to yourself unless if it's just a minor mistake.  If a company screws up significantly, than it is better to report as long as you keep it fair and factual; rather than say nothing and let people get an inaccurate picture of how perfect a company is and what great work they always do.

In all honesty I had an issue with a CMMG upper, they are adressing the issue. Now considering that you didn't allow them to address the issue then people here are going to bust your balls and rightly so.

This doesn't negate the poor quality controll in the first place. What should i do, keep my mouth shut then when i get my replacement upper post about how great it is and mention nothing about the defects with my first one?
