| I saw one of these kits at the gun shop today and picked it up on a whim. Installed it in a 1/9 bushmaster barrel and ran 50 rounds through it. It ran perfectly. I'm impressed. One question...how reliable are the Black Dog magazines over time and will the springs loosen up? I could only comfortably get about 22 rounds in the magazines. |

My friend brought one to the range today for the first time and it ran 100% as well. I was impressed with how well it worked and am considering picking up one for myself, especially since my SU-22 uses BDM mags and I have a few already.
As for the magazine being hard to load, Christies makes a loader for the BDM mags: http://blackdogmachinellc.net/black-dog-machine-mag-loaders.aspx |

I have 3 of the black dog mags for my Spikes Tac 22 conversion kit. I've only had it about 6 months and try to shoot every week. So far so good, and yes, my mags seem to have gotten a bit easier to load to capacity over the course of the last few months.
Has anyone seen or heard of a loader for these mags, maybe something like a lula...? Enjoy your new gear, very cost effective in these times! BASE700 |

I can get 26 in mine, could from the very first day. My CMMG kit is being used as a dedicated bolt with a M1S barrel, and it occasionally FTF's. I'm still trying to track down the cause. It's maybe once every 5 mags, and I think it's because it's getting dirty. I didn't have any problems earlier in the day when it was still clean.
Edit: I have close to 500 rounds through mine so far. |

I installed my brand new CMMG .22lr kit in my Bushmaster Patrolman upper mated to a LAR Grizzly lower with a DPMS LPK. I lubed the new bolt with Rem Oil spray lube. I used the Federal bulk that was recommended. I got about 1/25 fail to fire due to light primer strikes. They all look light, but some rounds just wouldn't go off the first try. A second try with a previous fail to fire worked every time. I ran about 200 rounds through total. How do the ejected empties look for you guys??? I'm used to the nice deep crimp that I get when I fire rounds out of my 10/22. I may need to contact CMMG about this.

| I picked a CMMG kit a couple weeks back and a couple mags. I took the kit to the range yesterday and ran 4 mags through it, I wish I would have more time. I used the Federal Bulk, Reminton Bulk, and CCI Blaser and all ran without a hitch and seemed to be accurate enough at 50 yds to hit small stuff. BTW, I was running this through a surplus m16A1 upper that has a 1-12 twist brl. As soon as I get a brl from a board member I am making a retro slick-sided AR in .22lr! |

CMMG just came out with their own mags for their kit now. They look like real 556 mags. I read something about the carrier locking back also. got a link on those mags?

BTW, I was running this through a surplus m16A1 upper that has a 1-12 twist brl. As soon as I get a brl from a board member I am making a retro slick-sided AR in .22lr! I built a upper with a M16 12 twist just for the Ciener thinking it would be more accurate. Against all logic it shoots very nearly the same with all rimfire ammo as my two 1/9 bushmaster uppers. Now all three of these are pretty accurate, when put against my friends dedicated spikes upper we had to use a match trigger and a 12 power scope over a sandbag rest to prove his spikes was any better. Bigest factor with any of these rimfire units is the ammo, try a bunch (includeing standard velocity and sub sonic when your unit is broke in and slick) and you should be able to find something your gun likes. My semi custom upper was not in vain , I fell in love with the light weight and ballance of the m16 pencil barrel . The 20" sight radius is great with my old eyes also. I have come to the conclusion that few folks would ever go to the carbines if they started with a pencil barrel! |
