Well went today to the range and had a blast. Bushy lower and CMMG 14.5 mod4 upper . Well this thing ran great totally impressed was shooting xm193. Absoulutely no problems.......until.......I had two magazines of wolf and I decided I would burn them up.HAHAHA every second round would ftf sometimes would get more than 2 shots off sometimes not. The upper has m4 feedramps and they are good usgi magazines. I even unloaded and reloaded into a magazine that I had just used with no problems. Looks like I'll save the wolf for my other guns and feed my AR a healthy diet of the good stuff. Other than that ,and I think its just because wolf is underpowered, she ran like a dream grouped nicely with irons and the aimpoint.I'll have to get some pics together to post just thought I'd let ya'll know.                NeverNdn

I NOTICED THE EXACT SAME THING!

1st Range Trip:  My CMMG upper was flawless out of the box with ALL ammo except Wolf 55gr poly.  They were just to weak to reliably cycle the action, and I had to constantly pull the charging handle back and chamber the next round.

2nd Range Trip:  Shot good old XM193, Walmart Winchester value packs, 100% happy happy.  Wolf actually started to work with it, having to manually retract maybe 10-15% of the time.

3rd Range Trip:  ALL WAS GOOD.  Gun was broke in good.  You could tell by manually cycling the action, that it was much smoother.  Had 1 instance of a weak cycle with the Wolf, but the rest of the Wolf went without a hitch.

Give it a few trips to smooth out, then try it again.

"I see" said the blind man. Thats very true, didnt even dawn on me that wolf would work after broken in. Just figured it wanted to eat steak instead of hotdogs. Thanks for the knowledge. Other than that I couldnt be more impressed .                       NeverNdn

This is good to know, I just ordered a CMMG upper because I didn't want some picky bitch, I wanted an AR that shot what I told it to shoot, not an AR that told me what to shoot.

I like what I'm reading guys.  I also have a CMMG 14.5 mod4 w/phantom upper on order.  Went ahead with the bolt upgrade too.   Said it would be 2 weeks as of 11/02/04 e-mail.  I have a RRA NM lower waiting for it.  Can't wait to get her.

I also have a CMMG upper (14.5 with perm Phantom) on order.

The more I hear about CMMG, the happier I am that I chose them.

I am planning an order for the 14.5" NFA upper to put on a papered Bushy lower. My question to you guys is how the fit is between Bushy lowers and the CMMG uppers? I am getting alot of good feedback on these uppers and I am almost convinced to go with them.

They are a very good fit , tight no play at all and very good color match.                      NeverNdn

I find after first shooting about 500 rounds of good LC XM193 in my ARs when new, they will eat just about anything.

Well I can only report the about the fit on an Ameetec lower, but the fit was excellent. They went together without any force yet there is no play either. I couldn't ask for a better fit.

Used to have a range report on CMMGs DPMS 4150 steel 1/7 twist M4 barreled upper (16"), unfortunately the "Archive" server is still down and link is not accessible.

Here are the targets from my testing that day, rifle was 16" CMMG M4 w/ ARMS #45 S.I.R., ML2 equipped on a Bushmaster lower, stock trigger, note: range was 50 yards and dot size at that range covers 2":

First the 77grn. SMK load, I normally shoot:

Note: ML2 zeroed with these rounds......

Hornady 75grn. A-Max handloads:

Hornady 75grn. BTHP Match handloads:

Winchester 64grn. Power Point (old style bullets handloaded):

Winchester 64grn. Power Point Plus (factory box rounds):

IMI M855 (62grn. steel core)

Winchester M193 (55grn. Q3131A)

Winchester Value-Pak 45grn. HP (sold at Walmart)

Note: red-dot completely covered this smaller dot, so group is not indicative of normal conditions with better target.

And here are some Q3131A followed by IMI M855 into my favorite targets (empty Q3131A boxes) these were shot as all of the above were from a benchrested position at 50 yards, (altough these were fired at a rapid fire pace).

20 rounds Q3131A

20 rounds IMI M855

Aimpoint ML2 was not adjusted during the shooting above as it's zeroed for my 77 SMKs.

The CMMG upper invloved in this testing had no FTF, FTE or any problems at all during this testing and as can be seen (although the groups aren't that great IMO, blame the shooter) by the above targets IT shoots almost anything very well. IT has still given me no malfunction problems at all and accuracy has only gotten better with it as more rounds go down the tube.

No, it has never been subject to Wolf ammunition and won't be, as I don't shoot cheap russian ammo in my AR15 rifles (actually the 45grn HP Value-Pak ain't that expensive), as it's best reserved for AK47s, IMO.

Hope this helps, CMMG sells great uppers...... and no he don't pay me to say it, it's just the truth.

Mike

Get rid of that piece of crap ASAP.  If it's that damn picky about ammo you don't want it.

Well, I'm having a 16" CMMG M4 barrel installed on my Bushmaster. I was concerned how a 1x7" twist would perform with Q3131A 55 grain bullets (M193 in general), but I guess I have nothing to fear.

I don't have any problems with Barnual in my SAR-2 (I don't shoot Wolf). I wonder if your CMMG upper would like Barnual.

If ya sent it to me I'd do something to fix it so it wasn't so damn picky about ammo.

You realize that Barnual and Wolf are almost the same round, right?
