I have tried but so far been unable to get some details on this upper..
If the info is out there and someone knows a Post or Thread I can read through please feel free to post a link.. TIA for any and all info..

Upper is all COLT, W/Carry Handle, & A2 Sights.. Barrel is 16" marked C MP 5.56 NATO 1/7, appears to be H/BAR, no Flash Hider, or Bayo Lug, nicely crowned.. I believe the barrel is chrome lined, but would like to be 100% if someone could clear that up it would be great.... There is a Silver/Grey ring at the muzzle and also looks Silver/Grey at the front of the chamber.. Upper has M4 Feed Ramps as well..
Front Pin Hole measures 0.250", and the upper fits perfectly on three lowers I tried this afternoon so I suspect it would fit them all...

OK, so what is it you want to know? Whether the barrel is chromed? Or ?

Actually, you can figure out the chrome lined issue for yourself.  Get a bottle of instant blue at your local Wal Mart, dip a Q Tip into it, and putit onto the silver area around the muzzle, or back at the rear of the chamber. If the bluing colrs the area, it's not chromed.  If the silver color doesn't change, it is chromed.

Though from what you describe, my hunch is that it is indeed chrome lined; at least at the chamber end.

Really just what the COLT model designation was and where/are they good shooters? If it's CHROME as I suspect, & Aprox value would be nice as well?
I think I can buy this for a very reasonable price and it would make a nice AR for one of my Sons, with the added plus of being able to use it with heavy bullets..
Thanx

The first letter stamped on the barrel "C" means it is chrome lined.

Very few Colt barrels were not chrome lined,
but if it was not chrome lined the barrel stamp would start with just the "MP"

Me too.  I really want to know what rifle that came from, or where those uppers are/were available.  I'm a card-carrying Koolaid drinker, and I've never seen that configuration before.

A limited run from SAW, maybe?

Anyone know?

While trying to figure this stuff out on my own I found some conflicting info making this a BIT confusing as the "C" has meant COLT in the past as well as CHROME??

As far as the 1/7 Twist, of course I know that for sure but NO sure if this is actually an H/Bar? It does not say so and I'm not sure of the H/BAR dimensions?

Take the handguards off and look for a "0" stamped into the barrel near the barrel nut.  This is the sign of a chrome lined Colt barrel.

The Upper came from a COMPLETE COLT AR, model Designation is MATCH TARGET LIGHTWEIGHT.. Also IIRC COLT Mod # is MT6530..

It really is a sweet upper and I may try to pry the lower from the owner and put this rifle back together? IF I can't do that it will go on a DSA ZM4 Lower I have in the safe..

CTbuilder1~
Will do, thank you  for the info...

Well, if it's from a Colt 6530, then the barrel should be narrow profile.  You indicated in your initial post that it appears to be heavy, and it appears to me also to be heavy profile (at least from the front sight forward) –– like my 6721 barrels but in a ban configuration.  Might just be an illusion though; it's a lot easier to tell when there's a flash hider mounted.

The C stands for Colt.  Colt stopped using the C to indicate chrome sometime in the 70s.  As posted, an O stamped near the chamber end will be an indicator of chrome lining.

I thought it "appeared" to be H/BAR but I'm not sure?
Thinking it will be easy to tell when I get the handguards off?

As far as the Model I don'thave the lower in front of me although I do know the SER#.
I kinda guessed on the Mod # based on info I found while trying to figure this all out..
Looks like there are still some things I don't know for sure just yet?..

Will try and get the H/G's off tomorrow and check for the "O" and check the profile of the barrel..

Edit to add:
Well I'm impatient so I jsut went and pulled the H/G's off.. There is indeed an "O" Stamped forward of the Barrel nut as pictured above.. Barrel is LIGHT under the H/G's as well so I now know TWO things for sure..
Thank for the replies so far gents..

And I'll bet you everything you own that I have––-In fact I own one; and early production M16 type.

Also, Colt made unlined barrels for the civie HB target types in later production.

Too bad you're in Arizona. , but if you ever get to Georgia you can stop by with the lunch money
