Just purchased a Milspec CTR stock to go with a new Milspec buffer tube from Larue Tactical. The fit is so-so. There's far to much play back to back and rotationally. Does anyone know who's buffer tube Larue sells?
The CTR is new to me, so not sure if the front locking lever should have a positive click or not. Pops loose positively, but doesn't do the same when you squeeze it closed. |

That happens sometimes.
What I do is take a peice of duct tape, cut it to about 1"x 1/4". Take the stock off and look into the hole. At the bottom you will see what almost looks like a metal U shaped clip, but with squared corners. Put the duct tape strips in there, on the sides, as this is where the clamping force comes from. This will fill in some space and create a contact point and your stock will be rock solid. |

Personally, if I bought a CTR and it was loose, I would contact Magpul or LaRue and find out why. Both have good CS. The whole idea of a CTR is to be locked tight without having to mod it.
I used electrical tape on my M4 stocks to tighten them up. Then I went with a MOE. Been very happy with it and it's fairly tight. Dave |

Paid that extra for the so-called solid feel of the CTR over the MOE. Can't say it's even possible based on the lever's design. Live and learn I guess... |
| I would probably try to do something about it, b/c my MOE locks up tight on the tube DSA sent with it, If you you paid more for a CTR and its loose you do something with the parts. I'm not sure if you can lay blame without buying another stock and tube to compare fit, or find someone local to help you out. |

I have six CTR stocks and all lock up tight. However, on my Robinson XCR rifle, it came with a VLTOR mil-spec buffer tube and the CTR fits sloppy on it. Even the milspec VLTOR stock fits a little sloppy on the VLTOR tube.
Not all milspec stocks are the exact same width. They have a range to compley with milspec, just like the stocks do. It is possible that your tube is the lowest end of milspec, and the stock is the highest acceptable milspec width and they introduce a little slop. I would try your CTR on another rifle at a gunstore and if it locks up tight, it is your buffer tube. If it is sloppy, then send the CTR back for another one. Once you get it right, you will love the CTR. It locks up so tight you think it is part of the buffer tube. |

since the prospect of a tight lock-up was the only reason I bought one.
