I have a RRA ar15 "entry Level" rifle. I want to install a free floating hand guard rail. I was told since I have a muzzle break on (and it's pinned) I can not install a free floating hand rail. Is this true? I thought if I removed the A2 front sight I would be able to install a free floating rail and install a gas block/pop up front sight.
Thanks for listening.

The fact that you can't remove the muzzle brake means that you can't remove the front sight.

Your best bet is a handguard replacement.

If I cut the front sight off can I than install the hand guard rails and a new gas block/pop up sight?

The Daniel Defense Omega is a 2 peice free float handguard and is very light, strong, and sturdy. Highly recommended. This and a Samson are about your only choices for free float since you wont be able to remove your fsb due to your fh being pinned on

edit. the samson requires the delta assembly to be cut off with a dremel. You could cut your fsb off and replace it with a two peice gas block I`d immagine but wouldnt recommend it. The A2 fsb is really sturdy

If you manage to cut off the front sight - yes. You could replace it with a clamp-on gas block assembly.

The DD Omega rail is one of the best rails available. It can be installed very easily by just about anyone.

I had a pinned muzzle break on my colt hbar 20" and I was able to unpin it, then remove everything to install my FF tube. It just took using correct bracing to not put weird force on the barrel while I hammered them out. Im not sure if RRA is different from Colt but mine were just taper pins so you had to take them out from the correct side.

You can see the pinned muzzle break in this pic

RRA brakes are blind-pinned & welded, not taper pinned like a FSB. I can't imagine a taper pinned brake being legal in most "ban states."

OP, I was in the exact same position as you with my first AR, RRA Entry Tac made NJ-legal, and the conclusion is that without removing the brake you have 2 choices: DD Omega(not Omega X) or Troy MRF free float(Samson copied this but aren't any cheaper). I went with the Troy but wish I would've went with the Omega because DD rails really are much nicer!

Even if you cut off the FSB you more than likely won't be able to get the new barrel nut over the brake.

Yeah I wasn't quite sure but thanks i didnt know they welded them. Guess I take my state for granted sometimes.  Sorry OP.

Troy makes another 2 piece free float rail.  I have one.  DD is more expensive but higher quality and lighter.  Troy is good for me though.

That is correct. I removed a RRA brake from my first AR when the AWB expired, and it was relatively straightforward. Grind through bottom of brake, expose pin, remove pin, unscrew brake.

[ETA] I still have my M4gery from way back when; it has the barrel turned down and an A2 brake slip-fit and silver-soldered. That's a different setup altogether, but that doesn't sound like what the OP has. I think ADCO used to provide a service to fix that.
