I recently purchased a Colt surplus carry handle on the ee. No problem there, but I want to get the carry handle in a better place for a new build. So, questions and recommendations.
First, the sight itself. It can wiggle back and forth. Can I lock this in-place? I'm confident it'll throw off zero on a go forward basis. Second, I would like to take the sight apart and clean it up. It's definitely got some grit packed in there. Do I need anything special to take it apart or just knock out the roll pins and move from there. Lastly, I want to refinish it. Can I just sand down the nicks and spray it? Will I screw up the anodizing if I do? What can I use to paint it that'll blend in with the rest of the gun? I appreciate the help. |

So yeah, just drive out the roll pins. Be careful with the detent balls and springs...they're fairly small and easy to lose. I can't figure out why you'd have so much "wiggle" in the rear sight. If you're only talking about the peep itself, you can try bending the flat spring a bit to increase tension. If you're talking about the sight assembly you can try a new elevation spring or stretch your existing one to provide more tension. Spraying the carry handle won't hurt the anodizing. As to which color, you might check in the refinishing or build-it-yourself forums. hope this helps. |
| Krylon camo flat black is a really close match to anodizIng from the times I've used it. A compressor with air nozzle will be great for cleaning up your pieces while they're attached but when you start taking pins out a compressor will hide them across the room. Good luck on the refinish. |

As I look at it more closely; the sight assembly actually pulls to the left. I'm hoping adjusting the spring underneath will correct it.http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee101/vegashome_photo/IMG_2543.jpg this is normal, yours looks a bit much, but every A2 rear I've ever seen or handled has twisted slightly |

Leave it. |

Brownells has a good video on A2 sight installation.
http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/lid=11435/learn/ But like has been said it is normal to have a slight twist although yours does look a little excessive. |
