I see yours has a different forge. Are these desirable or worth more than a regular handle? What years were they used? I'm no expert, but I've owned a bunch of Colt ARs over the last 30 years. To the best of my knowledge, these CHs only appeared on the early 6700s. No idea of numbers produced, but if I had to guess, I'd say the quantity probably compares to the early Colt large-pin flattop uppers. Hard to say whether they're more desirable or valuable. I sold the one pictured above for $125 last year. Try asking in the Colt subforum under the Industry tab; there's lots of knowledgeable guys there. |

It's definitely an older style flat top carry handle off of a Colt. Seeing as it's a 6/3 it must have came off of a carbine length Colt originally. I love it tho. If you ever decide to sell it let me know i'd love to own one of these I've never seen a Colt removable carry handle sight that wasn't 6/3 (except on the 7.62X39 guns). 6700s are 20". I've always believed that the reason an elevation knob on a detachable handle reads 6/3 versus 8/3 is because the rear sight base stem is shorter, therefore not allowing as much vertical travel; I don't believe it has anything to do with barrel length. |
