I mounted a Spike's carry handle sight that I bought a while back from Aim Surplus and went to the range yesterday to sight it in. My first few shots were hitting significantly left which required me to crank the peep sight all the way to the right.
I looked it over more closely last night and noticed that the sight housing is canted to the left. I can move it to the right but it springs back to the left when I let go. I'm new to carry handle sights...any suggestions on how to fix this? |

That is normal for an M16A2/M16A4/M4/LMT type sight. It isn't causing the POI being off (this is most likely due to another issue such as a tilted FSB). I appreciate your response but if the rear sight is canted to the left which is causing me to shift the front sight to the left as well, how is that not moving the POI to the left? |

If you can, measure the amount the rear sight moves from dead center to where it sits at an angle. Is this distance the exact amount you had to move your rear sight to compensate for the POI? It's possible that I'm not following what you're asking but that seems to make sense if the target is extremely close / point blank. I was sighting in at 50 yards. |
| With regard to mechanical zero, have you watched a video on how to properly adjust this sight setup? Many good videos on youtube. You zero out your FSB, center your rear sight and have it all the way down. Generally they are initially sighted in at 25 meters. Use the front sight for height adjustment and rear for right/left. Zeroing your FSB is just making sure the base of the post is flush with the front sight base. |
