Fired about 50 rounds of 223 reman ammo through my BCM mid16 and saw 3 blown primers and 4 jams due to primer and brass parts lodged in the barrel throat.  I've linked to some photos of damaged cases below, and I'd much appreciate some guesses as to what the mechanism of damage was--how'd my rifle do this, and what should I do now, aside from a complete cleaning and getting rid of the ammo.  There doesn't seem to be any damage to the rifle, but the action and barrel are covered in brass particles...

That first picture, looking at just the case heads, looks like head swipe.
Head swipe occurs when the bolt begins to rotate to unlock while the brass is still locked in the chamber from the pressure of firing.  Thus, the bolt swipes across the head leaving the half moon mark and a ridge built up.  Pretty common from what I hear.
If this bothers you, you need to delay the action a little, maybe a heavier buffer or something.
If these were reloads, they may be loaded too hot.

Don't have a clue about that last picture

ETA:  Just noticed in the OP it mentions that this is reman ammo.  Most likely loaded too hot and primers are most likely not crimped in. If it were me, I'd try to get my money back, or at least not use this ammo.

Thanks!  Yeah, ammo is quite suspect.  The (re)manufacturer will take it all back in exchange for new, so I'm happy with that.  I'll run some M-193 through it next and see if the same thing happens.  If so, mods might be in order...

It will probably be good to go with factory ammo.

I wouldn't trust any ammo those folks REManufacture!  If they are selling it as .223 Rem why the hell are they using 5.56mm cases!  Do yourself a favor Don't by  Reman ammo- get Factory loads  or better yet reload your own.

Judging from the appearance of how the primer crimps were removed, I'd say they were Ultramax remanufactured cartridges.

Is that a bad thing?  Excessive brass removal?  I bought the ammo from Freedom Munitions--don't know anything about Ultramax.  I'll be sticking with new or self-loaded ammo from now on.

I reload that looks like bad ammo to me.

Looks like over pressure to me.  Read the signs.

Freedom Munitions has a brass credit program where people send them used brass for store credit. It looks like Ultramax reloaded brass with their typical excessive crimp removal that freedom munitions loaded up again. Send it back and if you see ammo doing that again stop shooting it right away.
