I feel your pain lol.. This will determine if I use the A1 lower for something else and use a colt A2 lower with this build.. I'm a stickler for trying to keep it correct.

this^^^ just bought one from SA, paid 45 dollars. There's a 50 dollar minimum for orders so I bought a new bolt release for my Colt SMG

Check with Bushmaster.  They have a stock nut for a 4-position stock that looks pretty good.  You have to call them

Seems the term "castle nut" has been incorrectly used recently. Please be specific, do you want a "castle nut" or a "lock nut" as noted in the XM177E2 manual like used on the XM177 series carbines? Also referred to as a lock ring.
Castle nut on left...........Lock nut (aka lock ring) on right

I'm needing a lock ring then...

The lock ring is available from Essential Arms and it is close but not totally correct.  Theirs only has 1 hole in the side & it is not drilled all the way through.  I suppose you could drill out the correct holes & repark fairly easily.

Ordered two from bushmaster a couple years ago. Called them up today to order a couple more and was told they have zero in-stock and are discontinued...

How do you tighten down one of these retro style lock nuts? Obviously the tool made for a modern castle nut will not work.

Takes a spanner wrench of the appropriate size. They're available, but I can't think from where. AR15 SPORT maybe.
