WTF . I think I pulled a muscle in my back trying to get it off the barrel and it is still there. Is there some trick to it or is it loctited on or something?

if it's a comp instead of a flash it's probably permanently attached. you'll probably have to destroy it during removal.

Plus +1

You will probably have to find where it is pinned and drill it out, then you can untrhead the comp from the barrel.  I just removed a Cav-Comp for a friend and it was'nt as hard as I thought it was going to be.  (I used a drill press)

Good way to loosen the index pin on your barrel.

The Cav Comp has three slots, one up, one on each side.

On the bottom on the rearmost ring there was a hole which should now be welded over.

That hole was drilled through and into the threads of the barrel appx 1/16".  A roll pin was pressed in (blind pinned), and down into the barrel threads.  Then it was welded over, ground smooth, and the finish touched up.

What you need to do is grind off that welded area, find the roll pin.  Then with a bit slightly larger in diameter, drill out the pin, begin careful to go no deeper than the pin.  Then simply unscrew the comp.

If Cav did it, the pin they use is tiny. Just drill it out. Its short and tiny actually... I couldn't see it either, but it was there.
