I have a Bushmaster A2 Shorty with a soldered on compensator (how that happened is a whole other post!). I want to put a short barrel and a flash hider on it. Then I want to put a collapsable stock on it. Now that I can legally do this. By short barrel and flash hider I mean minimum 16" legal. Don't want to break any laws or deal with registering the thing as a sbr. When I look at the Bushmaster site they usually say their barrels are already headspaced. Does that mean install and go play?? Could someone step me through, or point me to a location to explain putting a new barrel on my upper?? Thanks in advance for your help. |

As long as the barrel is a total length of 16", the rifle is not a SBR. Now if you just want the parts, then J&T would be your better bet, due to price. Now the great news, I see that you are located in CO. Guess what, I'm home (Denver) and on holiday for a couple of weeks. If you get the parts ordered, and receive them before I take off again, then I can give you a hand on changing out what every you desire on the rifle (as long as it legal). P.S. I tend to build heavy rifles, so even my carbines are heavy profiled. If you want to go light, then the fibrolite Car butt stock and a thin profiled barrel would be your better option. www.jtdistributing.com/ |

To spend the day at my house, help me knock the dust off my tools (been on the road way too long), and hand me a Pespi and slice of pizza as I wrench on his gun. As I have said before, anyone one that needs help on a firearm is more than welcome to my tools, my help, and advice if needed. It just helps lucking out, and catching me in town when you have the problem. |
| As far as your headspace question. The head spacing is set when the manufacteror installs the barrel extension. As long as you have a good quality barrel and the bolt isn't very worn headspace will not ba a problem. If your worried check it with a feild guage, you really can't adjust it though. |
