So who here actually builds/buys the next rifle they have actually planned?

My first buy was a post ban 20" Colt H-Bar that has gone away.  Every rifle since then I have built.

Than I built a lightweight middy carbine.  It is has worn some different furniture and optics and is now back to it's original configuration.

Then I built a heavy barrel varminter which is on its second lower and third buttstock.

Then a CAR which is on its second set of furniture.

As each of these were built after the middy I 'planned' on them being a dedicated .22rf but they always morphed into something else.

My latest attempt at a dedicated rimfire has now morphed into a suppressed SBR.......

I did 'borrow' the BCG from the CAR for this build and have a Ciener kit on order so maybe, just maybe it will finally get 'built'......

This would be a pretty decent post if you included photos of the rifles you're describing.

Here was my plan.....
Buy a $1300 ban compliant Colt carbine. Remove almost everything, & rebuilding it 3 times to get it exactly where I want....maybe.
Then sell the Colt barrel installed on a CMT/Stag T-marked receiver, and all at for $200.

So, $1100 end price for the assembled receivers, then install a LMT SOPMOD $200 (on the traded CMMG buffer tube - only cost me a complete Colt butt stock-$??? ) Then get a set of rails $270, EOTech $400, and BUIS $125, BCM bolt carrier $.......it goes like that for a while.

We spend so much in experimenting, our wives would kill us if they knew the truth.

+1

And they would probably bury us in a pile of shoes/clothes to do it.

None of these pictures are current.  I'll see if I can correct that at some point.

OK 325.

But only for one rifle as it would take too much time and pictures for more than one.

Start with this.

Complete it as this.

Buy this.

Buy flattop and gas block to make this.

Add optics and different buttstock to get this.

Swap out entire lower, buttstock and optics to make this.

Disassemble lower, take to engraver, send Form 1, order additional parts and wait for stamp to arrive in the mail.

No rifles were injured in the making of this display.  All parts reused and made into additional rifles.
